Moon-Rise Cabin -Serene and Unique off Katy Trail

Enchanting hand-built off-grid cabin overlooks the Missouri River bottom, nearby bluffs, and scenic, peaceful 177 acre farm
-Close to Columbia, Hermann & Jeff City
-Spacious studio-style bedroom
-Large sunny windows
-Outdoor kitchen
-Screened-in porch
-Fire pit
-Incredible views, total stargazers dream
-Pets OK!

Secluded & surrounded by nature, find yourself restored after hiking, antiquing, cooking, or drinking wine and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Glorious glamping!

THE CABIN
The cabin is equipped with solar powered lights, phone and computer charging stations, a propane powered heating system and kitchen range. Cold running water flows in the kitchen sink located in the hand built screened in porch and also in the outdoor shower - perfect for cleaning up after a long summer's day of hiking trails or biking on the Katy Trail. This is a unique home that will make for a totally unique stay.

LIVING SPACE
The indoor living space consists in a queen bed and convertible sofa or futon for seating or an additional sleeping place if you want to bring friends (max 4).

OUTDOOR KITCHEN
The outdoor kitchen (on the screened-in porch) includes a gas range for cooking and making morning coffee, and comes equipped with utensils, pots, pans, dish ware, etc.

FRONT PATIO
The front patio overlooks the incredible 170 acre farm and Missouri river bottom and affords great views of sunsets, sunrises, stars, and in the right season, lightning bugs!!

BATHROOM
There is a very clean porta potty nearby for the bathroom.

OUTDOOR COLD SHOWER
We have an outdoor shower for your convenience. NOTE: COLD WATER ONLY. It's not glamorous by any means, but it works! You can also swim in the pond or nearby beautiful Hart Creek to cool down or rinse off. We provide towels! (PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The shower is not available during the winter due to freezing temperatures that make the shower inoperable.)

WILDLIFE
Warmer months you'll surely encounter some of the resident tree frogs, birds, peregrine falcon, bald eagles, worms, Gary the groundhog, possums, snakes, armadillos, insects, dragon flies, bumblebees, lightning bugs, deer, wild flowers, trees, grass, turtles, fish and celebrity Justin Beaver.

POND
We have a small pond on the farm. As it is fed by both rain and a little spring, the water level depends on how much rain we've gotten - if we've gotten a lot of rain and there isn't a lot of duckweed growing, you can enjoy a good swim! You can also swim in the nearby beautiful Hart Creek (it also runs on our property) to cool down or rinse off. We provide towels.

FISHING
We also invite you to fish in our pond. You are welcome to keep and eat any fish that you like, with the exception of all bass under 12 inches. Please be sure to release these until they get to breeding age in order to help us ensure the healthiness of our pond. Anything larger than 13 inches is all yours!

ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATIONS
We have another cabin on the property that sleeps 2, and a farmhouse that sleeps 6. Please inquiry if you'd like to make a family or friends trip to the farm!

NOTE: This is comfortable glamping, and the cabin sits on 177 acres of nature. It might be hot. It might be cold. In the summertime there will be bugs, including ticks on the trails. We provide some bug spray, but bring your own to help. The outdoor kitchen is well equipped but rustic. It is thoroughly cleaned after each guest's stay; but since it is OUTDOORS, it may show signs of outdoor exposure, including dust. Please come with reasonable expectations so you will have a delightful stay!

CANCELLATIONS
The cancellation policy applies to all bookings. An additional $150 cancellation fee will be charged to cover credit card processing and admin fees on all cancellations.

RENTER'S AGREEMENT
A signed renter's agreement is required for all reservations, as well as a picture of a government-issued photo ID and a picture of your credit card used to book showing only the last 4 digits and your name. This is to prevent credit card fraud and is meant to protect you as the renter and us as hosts.

UNAUTHORIZED LATE CHECKOUTS: Unauthorized late checkouts are not allowed and will be billed at $25/hr in hourly increments. Please be respectful of our housekeer's time and be sure to checkout on-time.

DEPOSIT
We require a $300 deposit for each reservation, which will be processed 3 days before your arrival. As long as there is no unexpected damage to the home, deposits are automatically refunded in full in 7 days.

What a beautiful place to stay!
I have no words to describe how beautiful and mesmerizing the view is from this place. Everything about it is just so lovely. The cabin is hugged by the trees just like in the pictures, and everything is as described and beyond. As a Cleaning business owner, I can attest to how clean and organized it was when we got there. There is everything you need, the host thinks of everything and is on top of things. You only need to bring the ingredients if you are planning on cooking and ice. There are plates, pots, pans, cups, silverware, coffee, etc. And everything is freshly clean. The cabin does not have any particular smell, everything is just so fresh. I even brought my own pillowcase and my blanket in case I didn’t like how theirs felt, but I ended up using the cabin's instead of mine. The blankets are soft, clean, fresh and the pillows were like puffs of cloud. It surely feels like the host poured her heart and love all over, when you see how well taken care of it is, and how she cares about the little things you may need. And, the view is fantastic, making the dawn and dusk a whole impressive event. A great place to find yourself in this beautiful universe amongst nature. You will feel nothing but love over there. We will definitely be back and maybe make this place our new tradition to get away to.

Relaxing and Peaceful
Cabin was just as described. We stayed in October and got to see the leaves changing all around us. The cabin was very quiet, clean and peaceful. We enjoyed having coffee on the screened in porch, listening to the birds, taking naps in the comfy bed, and hiking. I recommend going to the harts creek conservation area about a half mile from cabin. I will definitely return in the future. I think this could be a great place to come by yourself for a weekend of solitude. Thanks so much for sharing your place!
