Lovely hotel & nice location but the room was crazy small. Booked a twin & no enough room to seperate the two singles. Could only just open the suite cases & had to jump over them to move around the room.
Room was a "compact double" but was a good size for a couple with a very comfortable bed. Shower however we could not get to work and the cooked breakfast was poor. Advised it was cooked to order but it wasn't. Had to wait ages and when it did arrive was all dried out and not edible.

Nice ish trip
Very dated but good old school hotel
Unfortunately when problems reported with room (tv and light bulbs gone) totally ignored
Waitresses forgetting orders, wrong orders turning up etc
What makes up for it is fantastic views and great room
Overall the hotel itself is exceptionally clean warm and cosy. Its location is right on the front overlooking the sea. Enjoyed having a cream tea in the front garden with a seaview.
The only bad thing was, when we were seated by staff for breakfast, it was a full half hour later before our order was taken and the dining room wasn't at all busy.
Beautiful historic hotel, just a little tired in some areas but this doesn’t affect your stay. Location was perfect with Castle beach directly opposite and beautiful sea view walk along the front. Less than 10 minutes walk to the harbour with an array of shops, restaurants and bars..
Bed was very comfortable but sleep can be disrupted as floors above the rooms and the corridors outside them are very creaky, cannot be helped though due to the age of the hotel.
Breakfast was a little disappointing especially the eggs, tried all options but it was hit and miss whether they were overcooked especially the poached and scrambled plus didn’t realise sauces and baked beans ( not shown on the menu ) were an option until our last day as we were never offered these and only found to be an option from another guest so best to ask your server

A great location with lovely sea view. The hotel once it has it makeover should be wonderful.
lovely traditional hotel, really old fashioned in a charming way. The room was comfortable though the decor was a little tired.
We particularly liked falling asleep to the sound of the waves gently rolling ashore.
Reception staff were lovely and welcoming.
Very disappointed with this stay, I’ve been twice before so knew what to expect but this time pool was closed all week, breakfast service was changed midweek and it was like being in prison there was so many people walking round. Just left very disappointed by the entire stay this time.
Very clean everywhere, wonderful staff who are genuinely happy to see you and help you. Gorgeous grounds and well kept interior. Very shocked this is not a 4 star!
