This hotel is bizarre.
At a glance, the chic design is hugely appealing and the spot just outside the city centre seemed quite but close. However, a bunch of small oddities added up to a hugely disappointing experience.
First, the room’s air conditioning was blowing hot air and on the third floor, this made the room stifling when we arrived. After attempting a ton of fixes of the remote, we asked the front desk about it and didn’t receive a clear answer as to why or possible solutions outside of a generic “we’ll look into it”. It was not into. On a second ask, we were informed that the AC only turns on after May. While I understand heat tolerance is different, it seemed like a huge oversight for a city that can get really hot in April.
This experience domino’d into a bunch of strange things out of place: no place to hang your bath towels, bed side lights that weren’t wired up, unbelievably loud construction starting at 7:30 am, comically thick pillows which couldn’t be swapped because the staff didn’t know where the pillows were kept, and an ice cold shower on our last night because apparently the building had run out of hot water.
The whole place seemed like it was in a trial/training phase.
Of course some of the design was nice. The shower was great when the water was warm and the materials and colours used in the room were certainly pleasing but it all felt like it was designed around being photographed instead of slept in.
