We stayed to see the rabbits on the island.
Would have been nice if a few more options at dinner and breakfast. I struggled to find things to eat at dinner and my husband breakfast. We didn’t use the onsen so also would be nice if maybe other activities in were available. We had a nice stay none the less
We traveled around Japan with two kids: 4 and 8 years old. I cannot express this enough...for the kids, Okunoshima was by far the best part of the trip.
Staying at this property allowed you to have access to the rabbits at times that were not as busy with tourists. After the last ferry to the island leaves, the rabbits come out in larger numbers and you can have a better experience then a regular day trip would allow. I would definitely stay again at this property for this reason alone.
The room waa a tradition ryokan style with futon beds on the ground and a kow table for sitting and drinking tea. The best part was the room had an ocean view- about half the rooms. Dinner and breakfast buffets were included in the cost of the room, so it was an incredible deal. Be prepared for a shared tradition bath exprience as there is no showers in the room, only toilets and a sink. The bath was a wonderful experience and it was empty when I went so I had the place to myself. I would highly recommend staying the night so that you can get your fill of the bunnies and circle the island which has such an interesting (and dark) history. Catch the noon (or earlier) ferry to get off island because there is a long break in the ferry schedule and not much to do once you’re finished with your bags of rabbit food. Enjoy!
Pro: Stable wifi, excellent hot spring with wide choice of shampoo, shower gel, face scrub, hair and skin moisturizers, welcoming staff
Con: A little expensive, food options at dinner and breakfast were more local, so it may not suit everyone
Only hotel on rabbit island (although there is campsite). Hotel is slightly dated but the rooms are large and comfortable. Stayed in japanese style room - turn down service provided while at dinner. Food buffets were good and friendly welcome. On site public onsen nice but bear in mind if you have tattoos this is the only place to shower and wash.
Don't forget to buy rabbit food before you get on the ferry!
Possibly one of the best things I've ever done. As the ferry approached the dock you could see bunnies everywhere. The hotel bus was waiting. Check in smooth and staff very welcoming. I chose a tatami room for 2 nights: includes a private toilet and basin, lovely low table set with Japanese tea things and a seating area overlooking the bunny studded front lawn and sea. Huge japanese buffet breakfast and dinner included. You shower Japanese style at the onsen. An interesting island with lots of beautiful walks. You don't have to be a bunny enthusiast to enjoy it. Spotless, great service and food. There's a gift shop but bring bunny food from the mainland. The ferry port sells pellets or shop for fresh veg beforehand. I went solo but great for couples and families. A magical experience.
Bunnies. Bunnies everywhere. Rooms were clean and well sized. Check in was a breeze. Not much English spoken, but enough. Not much signage in English, but I made do with Google translate camera mode.

Good for people love rabbit, and not suitable for people don't like animal
The room was a typical Japanese Ryokan. Dinner and breakfast is included in the price. As such, room rates are based on the number of people. The room features tatami mats instead of beds. The mats were quite comfortable, I would say mid-way between a sleeping bag and a mattress. There was a private toilet but the baths are communal (onsen style). Overall, a great visit if you are there for the bunnies.
If you love bunnies and Japan then this place is heaven on Earth! We’ve stayed here twice, first time just two of us, the second with our 4 year old daughter and it was fantastic. Friendly bunnies everywhere and traditional relaxing accommodation. Staff now have great English skills and are super friendly
