Parking & Check-in: There was no hotel parking available upon arrival, and the garage is open to the public, with no reserved spaces for guests. Overnight parking is $22, but I ended up spending 30 minutes searching for street parking. The check-in process was chaotic, as the front desk is located in the same small lobby as the bar and a live band. The music was so loud that we couldn’t hear the front desk staff and had to wait for the band to stop playing just to check in.
Room & Cleanliness: The room was as dated as expected, but it should have been included in the renovation of that wing. The bathroom was in poor condition, with drywall showing rust, mold in the corners of the shower, and an overall unclean feeling that made my wife feel dirty even after showering. Additionally, the walls were extremely thin—we could clearly hear the couple next door having a normal conversation, which didn’t make for a restful stay.
Renovation Noise: Renovations were actively happening on our floor. Had to have repairs made upon check in and multiple times during our stay, (loss of power) Construction noise started at 7 AM on Saturday and 8 AM on Sunday, making it nearly impossible to sleep in or relax.
Overall, while the hotel has historical charm, the lack of maintenance, poor soundproofing, and disruptive renovations made our stay uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until the renovations are complete and the hotel makes much-needed updates to its rooms and amenities.
