My wife, who is from Imatra originally, and I travelled to Imatra to visit Relatives and friends and we decided it would make a change to stay at this "fairytale" hotel. We had a long hot drive from Pieksemaki, through Savonlinna to Imatra arriving at 2:10pm, you can check in from 2pm according to the hotel information provided. We were politely informed our room was not ready but it would only be 2 or 3 minutes. I had my doubts this was true as the reception area was well adorned with other would be residents obviously in the same boat. After 20 minutes of waiting I was again told it would only be another 2 or 3 minutes, to cut a long story short it took until 3pm to get to the room. The room itself was more tired than we were, it was in desperate need of updating and decorating, we had a lovely view over Imatrankoski but I was afraid to open the windows in case they fell out. The bathroom had seen many better days, the sage green tiles almost managed to hide the mould and the dirt around the fixtures, but not quite. The positives, were the WIFI was really very good and free, complimentary tray had some really very nice tea, coffee and biscuits, although there was nowhere within 4 metres to plug the kettle in and the sign in the bathroom warned that steam could set of the fire sensor, so I finished up boiling the kettle in the bathroom.
