Pros: Shuttle boats and boat tours are convenient to access. Pool & lounge area was relaxing. Neighborhood felt safe and was walkable. Breakfast buffet was really great…don’t miss the Thai cuisine outside! Tons of food options at the hotel itself and surrounding area. Cons: Room wasn’t very clean and smelled musty and of urine at times.

Had a great view of the river. Directly across the river from the iconsiam mall. Very close to the train station and boat pick up and drop off. The hotel provides free transportation to the iconsiam mall (you take a boat across the river) from 10 am to 530pm. If you leave after those hours you can pay 8 bht for the ferry. I like that everything in the refrigerator is complementary. You can also use the gym for free. The gym has a great view of the river and you can use the sauna and stream room for free also.

This hotel is starting to look a bit tired and room furnishings in particular looks dated. The big gripe for us is that although we are staying for a total of 12 days this trip and staying in a premium room we were advised that that was insufficient to warrant the provision of an espresso machine which were reserved for suites. Seriously Shangri-la We are staying at 4 other 5 star hotels this holiday including The Shore, Banyan Tree and Sametnangshe Boutique - all excellent hotels - which provide coffee machines as standard. Here we get a couple of sachets of instant coffee granules. Pretty shocking for an allegedly prestigious hotel chain.

Disappointing, the pool area is cramped, difficult to get sunbeds, though I appreciate thus us the busiest time of year, towels were stained and sunbed mattresses are distinctly grubby looking. Breakfast time is crazy busy with long queues. We could have had breakfast in lounge, but more choice downstairs, so we opted to join queues. Beds are hard but comfortable, though rooms suffer from both street and adjacent bedroom noise. The windows don't seem to be double glazed and are old allowing sound to transmit even at 24th floor. We were in room 2402, adjacent to a family with children and could clearly hear them. We came to the long bar last year as outsiders and loved it, but this year the experience left something to be desired as Singapore sling served in cheap half pint type glass. I pay a premium for the surroundings and experience, part of which is the type of glass a nice cocktail should be delivered in. The staff who resolved the issue though were first class, but it should not have happened in first place.

The location was perfect since the BTS station was right next door. The hotel was quite outdated but kept in good condition so we had no complaints. The staff and service was great.
