The hotel has a friendly welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The restaurant offers a really excellent three course meal with lots of wine choices.
Beautiful hotel -- wonderful hosts, delicious food
We (4-person family with 19 and 21 year old sons) stayed at the Hotel La Tonnellerie for 2 nites during our stay in the Loire Valley. When we first pulled up, the hotel did not look as we expected (very unassuming), but when we went inside it was lovely. Like a vintage French home with a beautiful courtyard area, pool, inside and outside dining. The owners are lovely people that speak excellent English.
Our rooms were spacious and comfortable. There is no air conditioning but we loved having the windows open and used the in-room fan to muffle any outside noises. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms were renovated and plenty of hot water. Our boys loved the pool and that is was open until 10PM. Some of the other hotels we had visited closed the pool at dinner and we were rarely back from site-seeing until a little later. There are also some hiking paths in the area, so my husband enjoyed his morning runs.
The only thing for tourists to be aware of is that Tavers is a really small town without much to do. The first night we walked to the next town (about 1.5 miles) for exercise and dinner and found a few cute restaurants. The 2nd night we ate at the hotel and it was the best dinner of our entire trip! The daily breakfast buffet was delicious. They also offer a picnic service if you want to bring lunch on your trip during the day.
Can't say enough good things about the service from the owners of this small hotel. Highly recommend!
I have been looking forward to rewarding the owners of the Tonnellerie with the glowing review they deserve. I loved discovering this wonderful hotel that feels like a 5star hotel (the attention to detail and to the customer experience) but with a cosy and personable feeling. The room was decorated with antiques, large and airy and cosily decorated. The bathroom style didn't match either in style or in beauty but was very clean and had some thoughtful touches. The restaurant is only open to hotel clients and delivers a wonderful experience of fresh, home cooked meals with local ingredients and a good wine list. We enjoyed our aperitif in the lunge with a jazz record on the turntable. The garden is small but beautiful and the owners' care for quality and service shine through everything you experience during your stay and they are committed to delivering an increasingly sustainable service. I enjoyed buying wine and homemade jams I had tasted during my stay and will definitely come back if I am in the area (I would actually make quite a detour to say there again) and will recommend it warmly to friends and family. Thank you!
The hotel offers friendly, excellent service and nicely appointed rather spacious guestrooms. The hotel is situated in a small village so most attractions can be easily reached by car or bike. The hosts and staff are professional and charming. The restaurant features locally sourced menus and a lot of options on the wine list. The breakfast also features locally produced cheeses and confections and well worth the price.
Friendly place in a small village setting. A good base for Chateau visits. Good restaurant too.

Fantastic food
The place is a bit scruffy and rather overrun by families (fair enough during school hols). The parking wasn't readily available as all spaces taken when we arrived although we were able to park later in evening. However all redeemed by the fantastic food. Sublime multi coloured tomatoes and goat's cheese followed by best risotto ever. And v reasonably priced. Mega yum.
This hotel is set in a small village outside of Beaugency. The rooms are tastefully decorated and airy. There is a lovely garden and terrace area which also contains the pool. The restaurant was very good and offers locally sourced menus and a broad selection of regional Loire wines. The service staff extend their best to provide easy, friendly service to guests.
We had a great experience staying at La Tonnellerie. The owner and the staff are very helpful and very friendly. They have an awesome garden for the restaurant. We had dinner there and it was excellent.
Looked a bit shabby on the outside but once we went inside it was fantastic. Really friendly proprietor, very good food, comfortable room, nice swimming pool and ideally located for the Loire cycle track.
We have stayed at this hotel several times and twice since the new owners took over last year. Madame is absolutely charming and speaks excellent English. It is a convenient stop for us as we travel south but it would also be a good place to stay and visit the Loire area with its many chateaux. It is an old building with a lovely courtyard garden, heated swimming pool and secure parking.
The owners were super! They were very friendly and were extremely accommodating. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast was perfect. The breakfast was served in a very formal, beautiful dining space overlooking the courtyard. We had reserved a small street view room and they upgraded us to a larger garden room, because they had one available that was not being used that night. Thank you for your kindness- it made for a perfect stay.
A fantastic small hotel where nothing too much trouble. We arrived after a long journey and we're too weary for dinner at which point the prepared a lovely snack for us which was served with as much care and attention as if we had dined in the main restaurant. We will be returning to this little gem. Our room was lovely to overlooking the garden.
I have been there a couple of days and I like that calm village, it is a nice location. Everything is there to have a rest : a swimming pool, good cuisine, clean and big room and bathroom as well.
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel. The owner and her staff are very helpful and very friendly.
The village is nothing but very close to the lovely Beaugency, where we had breakfast,.Diners were fine at the Tonnellerie.

Good hotel, friendly staff
The hotel is quite far from the city in the middle of nowhere.
The hotel is ok, awesome garden for restaurant (good food as well).
Rooms are in the average with no air con (in Aug it is very hot).
Friendly staff. Price reasonable.
Hotel has a charming property and situation, with beautiful gardens and setting. The interiors are a bit worn and dated, but very clean. Food was average. Bed and pillows were not terribly comfortable, and noise can be a problem if you are close to the elevator and central staircase. The best assets of the hotel were the competent and charming staff, and the proprietress. Service was excellent. I would recommend the hotel as a basic hotel in a good location for touring the Loire Valley, though the town of Tavers is a bit off the beaten track. It is only 5 minutes drive from Beaugency, which offers a crossing to the south side of the Loire, as well as good access to highways and scenic routes alike.
Lovely, fresh, characterful place, attentive service. Thought the drinks somewhat overpriced, our stay was very pleasant. Great selection of books about the area in the salon, good food. One criticism, the plastic furniture in the garden spoils the look.
