This is a special place for all to enjoy on the BEST lake in California. Flat, easy to find, 80-90 degree water in the summer and 365 miles of shoreline when full. Located on the most desirable part of the lake (the upper Sacramento arm in the wonderful community of Lakehead).
For more information please see our website by doing a search for "shasta lakeshore retreat."
Due to a great number of returning guests we tend to book up early especially for the summer months. Our 2024 and 2025 calendars are now open.
Notes: this is a wonderful place but there are several things we want to make sure our guests understand:
1. The house has a trail to the water's edge and marina but the elderly should avoid and children should be monitored at all times.
2. There is wildlife so please be aware when children and pets are present.
3. Although Lake Shasta is the best lake for water sports, swimming, fishing and general boating in California, it is a reservoir like many lakes in California. The water is let out all year long into the Sacramento river which supplies water to many parts of the state. This pushes our distance from the lake house to the water out as the level drops. For 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2023 the lake filled to top....in 2020 it was 30' from the top and 2021/2022 was down significantly. Go to our website and check the "Shasta Lake Water Level" page for our latest updates. 2024 is expected to be very full again.
4. The lower water levels might make the boat ramp several hundred yards further and will make the walk to the marina longer or require you to drive. Even in 2015 and 2021 when the lake was the lowest, it still took us only 30-45 minutes to drive our boat at speed from one end to the other. There was plenty of famous Shasta WATER. Although rare, if the water level drops to 140' or more it starts to impact the availability of the local boat ramps and marina. This requires a drive to another part of the lake. We have never seen a situation where there is no access to the lake and all marinas were closed.
5. The decks are high off the ground. Although they have railings as you would expect, if you have children, you need to watch them at all times outside as a fall from the deck would be serious or life threatening.
6. The stairway to the lower floor is steep. If you have elderly staying with you, we recommend they stay on the top floor.
7. We are strict with our rules including max number of guests (12), max vehicles/trailers of 5. The first 7 guests are covered by the base rate. There is an addition $15 per person charge per night for the number of guests beyond the 7. We do this to offer a lower rate for smaller groups that have less wear and tear on the home.
8. Forest fires are common in summer and fall in Northern California. Obviously we have no way of controlling these events so please assume that smoke from a fire might impact your stay. Please do not book our homes during these high risk fire seasons if you have concerns about air quality or have people in your group with any asthmatic health conditions.
9. NO SMOKING! NO WOOD FIRES OUTSIDE!
10. Rental Agreement Required at time of booking.
