About this property

LAKE SHELBYVILLE FARMHOUSE... 5 minutes from Lake Shelbyville... SLEEPS 9

KIMBLES FARMHOUSE is a cozy, spacious home that Kimble built from an old wooden corn crib with his own 2 hands. It is just 5 minutes from Lake Shelbyville, but out in the country where the views and the tranquility of the farm make it seem like you are in your own little paradise! It has 3 bedrooms that sleep a total of 9 people ( one of the bedrooms is a suite with a bath of its own, 2 sitting chairs and its own dining table), 2 full bathrooms, a large eat in kitchen, an adjoining dining room, an inviting living room for great conversations, a patio with a grill and seating to cook out and take in all the scenery, a laundry room with a washer and dryer, and plenty of parking for your boats, cars and trucks!

Kimble's Farmhouse sets on a beautiful hill in the middle of an 80 acre farm that Kimble purchased in 1959 when he was just 19 years old.

It is a working farm where guests can look down over the hillside and see a breathtaking view of the landscape, including cattle that sprinkle the hillside.

There will be corn and bean plantings in the spring and corn and bean harvests in the fall on the farm.

There is also a stocked fishing pond just 1/2 mile away for your fishing enjoyment. You can either walk to the pond or there is parking at the pond if you would like to drive.

We would LOVE to have you as our guests at KIMBLE'S FARMHOUSE!
A Smart television is provided for your entertainment. The bathroom has a shower.Conveniences include a washing machine and an iron/ironing board.

Family getaway
Owners are so nice. When they seen us out in n the property, they always stopped for a chat, that is such a nice thing! Love the details about how the house became what it is! We were close to the lake and far enough from the traffic. Only little minor thing for us was the beds are very hard, but when we come back we will bring a mattress tooper.

Very nice and very quiet farm house
This farm house is less than 10 minutes from town, and 15 minutes from the lake. There's a pretty cool backstory with pictures posted on the living room wall. The owners are absolutely amazing, and helpful throughout our stay. They opened the main barn, so my 3 y/o grandson could look at the tractors (made grandpa happy). The house itself had really good A/C and water pressure, with plenty of seating for everyone. The stairs leading to the upper bedroom are a little steep, but my kids didn't mind. The 3200 acre farm has plenty of small fishing ponds, one of which was assigned to his house, but the owner offered up additional fishing ponds, which was a nice gesture on her part. We caught plenty of small crappie, bass, bluegill, and catfish. The main issue I had was the mattress in the main/lower bedroom. I have back issues already, so I assume that contributed to my discomfort, but it wasn't very comfortable for me. I plan on staying here again (hopefully with a new mattress) when I come back to visit family, and would recommend to friends/family. We had everything we needed in the house, and having the washer/dryer on site was a help with our large family for 6 days. Lastly, and the owner doesn't control this, was the cellular signal. We have Verizon, and hardly ever had a signal...we'd do the "walk around to find a signal" thing, but usually just gave up until we went into town. Thanks again to this amazing owner, and look forward to coming back in future years.

Historical
It was an absolute honor to stay in a family farmhouse with a long history and rich tradition. It was a blast from the past. It has a beautiful view across the valley in the back yard and pet a cow while you’re back there. If you’re in town for a a week or weekend on Lake Shelbyville this is a great place to stay. Less than 15 minutes to the lake and even less to town. Plenty of room to park 5 boats. Don’t forget to bring your work clothes because there’s always work to be done on the farm!! Oh, Vicky is an awesome host. (And boss, lol)
