Exceptional hotel. The staff was extremely friendly, and the rooms were immaculate and stylish. It’s the perfect boutique hotel in the center of downtown Bakersfield. This isn’t a Hilton, Radisson, Home2 Suites, or any other cookie-cutter chain hotel with bland décor and zero personality. You’re staying at a true boutique hotel with real charm and class. It’s not a utopia—parking can be inconvenient. Valet runs about $18 a day, and street parking is limited. That said, it’s still highly recommended.
When we were there, many high school students took their pictures in the lobby and up that stairway. So we duplicated the look in regular street clothes.
We stayed in the Head Honcho room. This photo is of the hallway, looking straight toward the Fox Theater—such a cool downtown vibe. I didn’t even think to take photos inside the room, but it was outstanding.

Hotel is beautifully restored, room was clean and bed was comfortable, although wasn't a fan of the glass wall between shower and bedroom. I won't stay here again, however, because I was initially given a key to someone else's room. When my key didn't work on the room initially assigned to me, I returned to the front desk for help. The same staff person who had just checked me in informed me, smiling, that the room was actually occupied by another party. No apology, no apparent concern that she tried to send me to another person's room. (The front desk wasn't busy when I checked in, and I wasn't in a rush. There's no reason the staff couldn't have checked the room was already occupied before sending me there.) I'm a solo female traveler, and this is a red flag. I won't be back.

Clean, comfortable large room and bathroom. Furniture is worn and needs updating. Liked the big windows, bed comfy. Only one elevator working, we’d walk down stairs and I’d wait for the elevator going up…kids would walk up. Not a big deal for us, but if you rely on it could take a while or be very crowded. Breakfast was ok, not a lot for price paid. Staff person forgot my latte and I had to ask about it after three people behind me in line got their drinks.
