Very nice tenants, amazing food. Stay there for dinner! Superb landscape. Nice, clean and quiet French village in the basquese countryside. The breakfast could be more sophisticated for some guests. Highly recommended.
Although very small on the map, the road that borders the hotel is quite busy in the morning with traffic from trucks (some at speed), cars and tractors. With your window open, this is an unwanted early morning wake-up call (Rooms on the other side of the hotel should be quieter). Rooms are small but clean and breakfast is basic but you can purchase cooked dishes. Evening dinner taken on the terrace was ok with terrific views over the Pyrenees a real bonus.
Although having had all our small requests answered promptly, the owner has nonetheless a little bit of an attitude
The couple who run the hotel went out of their way to make us comfortable. The restaurant in the hotel served great local fare. This was a great place to stay before starting the Camino de Santiago.
This small hotel, with restaurant much larger than the few eating there required, has small rooms, in rather old condition. The owners/operators are friendly, the little town with its red-roofed white buildings is easy to walk about, and its close to St. Jean Pied due Port, with convenient free parking. Being in the country, the night skies are amazing! We enjoyed the stay even though the facilities of the hotel weren't great.
Excellent Hotel, warm welcome from the staff. Food is excellent, local produce.
Location is out of town therefore it requires a taxi if customer does not have a car.
Skeptical when we arrived as the hotel is located in a small village out of town from St. Jean Pied de Port. Owner welcomed us, showed us to our room. Room was 2 star quality. Great for a one night stay. bed was comfortable and shower was nice. Room was very clean. We did not eat at the hotel, though dinner and breakfast were available.
Excellent hotel in shadow of French Basque Pyrenees
My third stay at hotel in 5 years - excellent every time, from summer to winter! Location wonderful in shadow of Basque Pyrenees. Owners French but speak perfect English - nothing too much trouble. Food and wines and restaurant all excellent at reasonable costs. Even local artichokes and mushrooms for a vegetarian. Local town St Jean Pied de Port is beautiful with river old houses and church. Pleasant trip over Pyrenees to Pamplona in Spain!
What a wonderful location with beautiful countryside, the hosts were excellent, food and wine excellent very freindly and helpful, a room with a balcony view over glades and trickling river. A most pleasant place to stay.

plain and simple
Bed a bit lumpy, walls very thin. Otherwise all clean and simple
The hotel is in a central village location in Saint-Michel, about 4km outside of St Jean Pied De Port. Outstanding restaurant menu and quality dinner service, we were lucky to sit outdoors in the evening sun on the terrrace overlooking a charming river and stunning Basque Region hills and scenery. Slightly noisy and annoying road traffic and local dogs barking through the night, but not bad enough to prevent a positive review of a nice hotel run by a charming couple.
This small rural hotel is simple and peaceful in a small village in the middle of quiet Basque countryside. The staff is very friendly. Just outside St Jean Pied de Port, this was a lovely first stop on a driving trip to Santiago de Compostela. The breakfast was pleasant, but the dining room closed fairly early for dinner (8:15 on a Sunday) so we went into town to eat. Parking is right by the hotel
Easy drive to town, the hotel is in a bucolic town of St. Michel. The River Nive flows through the property and the country is green and lush. The couple who run the hotel are very friendly and extremely helpful. This is farm country, so if you don't like the smell of cows and sheep, pick another spot to stay.
