The space
Hunterston Cottage is less than 1 mile from Ft. Sill Army Base and close to the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. Private house with large fenced yard, off-road parking, and very secure in a quiet neighborhood.

Hunterston Cottage is well-maintained and charming....filled with original art, antique furniture, and other antiques. If you enjoy art, antiques, architecture, and history, then you will LOVE staying at Hunterston Cottage in Lawton!

Super CLEAN and all amenities --- fully stocked kitchen includes condiments, cooking oils, spices, etc. --All pots, pans, skillets, bakeware, and appliances including small appliances -- coffee maker, toaster, veggie steamer, blender, food processor, and more.

Basics are provided!!!! (water, coffee, hot tea, condiments, cooking oil, spices)
Be aware that our guests leave food/condiments/ alcohol for the next guest to use.
Use at your own discretion!

Bathroom includes -- blow-dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, hairspray, and fingernail care items. There is also an iron/ironing board and a first aid kit.

Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in all rooms.

Please read all house rules/home manual and share that information with all your traveling group. The person who books the home is responsible for the behavior and actions of all persons in their group.

Guest access
Entire main floor -- 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, and porch coffee nook as well as the entire 1 acre yard and garden areas.

No access to out buildings/garages or basement and laundry area -- laundry will be done by Host/Hostess and returned folded for guests staying at least 4 nights. Please ask for details.

THERE IS also a printer for guests to use to print out boarding passes or other urgent matters.

Other things to note
Hunterston Cottage is a treasure trove of antiques and original art. Please enjoy looking...but do not touch or handle!!! :-)

It's an old home...the hardwood floors creak when someone walks across them. Nothing we can do about that!

Free WIFI

Please note that due to the age of the home -- the size of doorways and hallways are NOT adequate for wheelchairs or any sort of mobile chair. Therefore ALL guests and visitors must be able to climb stairs on their own, walk, and sit in regular seating.
Temporary/portable ramps are NOT permitted as they are beyond our insurance and in violation of our home rules. Thank you for understanding.

Perfect spot for our needs

We were in town visiting our daughter and son-in-law who are stationed at Ft. Sill. This house was a very convenient drive to the Key Gate entrance. It was comfortable, historically interesting, very well stocked for an extended stay and close to restaurants. Susen was very responsive and helpful all along the way!!

Nights at the museum!

The house was lovely and very eclectically decorated. Lots of antiques! There is quite a bit to do in the area so we didn't stay at the house very much. While we were there, though, it was very comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. Our host was very accommodating and willing to answer ANY questions that we had!

Everything mentioned on VRBO for rental was as mentioned. Host met us and went over everything.

This home was perfect for 3 adult females for a girl trip. Home was equipped above n beyond. Host was very informative and kind . Location of home was close for any needed supplies. Highly recommend.

Short distance to Ft. Sill, so very convenient location

I was visiting Lawton to attend my grandson’s graduation at Fort Sill. This property was very convenient as it was only a 10 minute drive to Fort Sill. Great communication with host prior to our arrival allowed us to check in early.

The house was very clean. All the furniture and beds were comfortable. Supplied with amst all condoments, spices, teas, coffees you would need. Along with bath needs abd first aid stuff. Ee would definitely stay agin.

Weeping Gold House

We loved our stay at Hunterston Cottage. The VRBO info doesn't really mention the fact that inside is the largest collection of weeping gold china in the US, according to the pamphlet. (There is a lot of china, which might make it difficult with small children.) The house is much bigger on the inside than it appears. When our soldier came for Family Day, it was comfortable for the whole family of 8 to gather around the table to play games and eat or kick back to visit on the big comfy couches. If it had been cooler, the big fenced in yard would also have been an option. We would definitely stay again.

Comfortable and Cozy

Lovely home and host. Enjoyed our comfortable accommodations. Very well kept home and kitchen was appropriately stocked. Private yard with so much cute critter activity. Easy scenic drive to Wichita Mountains and other outdoor recreation. Rugs in kitchen need to be secured too easy to trip on, my only suggestion.

A Comfortable Place to Visit

We found this sweet little cottage on short notice, We needed a lace to visit with family in comfort. And this place fit the bill. It is conveniently located just off the beaten path in a quiet neighborhood. Susanna was a gracious hostess and nearby to take care of anything we needed. It was comfortable, quiet and historic. It was super clean and the house awesome with all the decors. Some of the downsides: - notice printed everywhere which was annoying after a while - expired foods and medicine, so please check before using it - toilet tank cover was open - paid cleaning fees still had notice to clean
