Morag is a wonderful host and cook! If you are planning to stay, make sure you book dinner with Morag…it’s fantastic!
Highly recommend as a perfect stop off if you’re travelling north 😊👍
We were travelling back from the Open at Troon and couldn’t have found a better place to stay and relax. What a wonderful Inn. Morag provided a lovely dinner. The rooms were very clean and well serviced. The large bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Thoroughly recommend if you are in the area.
One of the loveliest B&B experiences ever. Morag, our hostess was a treasure. Her culinary skills and hospitality were exceptional. We stopped for an overnight enroute to Isle of Skye...a respite we won't soon forget.
The Hightae Inn is a little gem. It’s clean, beautifully decorated and quite obviously run with much thought and love. We had such a friendly welcome and Morag was a superb host throughout. Our evening meal (at extra cost) was 3 courses of amazing food with expert flavourings. Morag is an amazing cook. Highly recommended and yes we will be back for another stay soon.
Morag is a perfect host, very welcoming and friendly. The room was immaculately clean. The food was also amazing, with homemade breads and deserts. It’s worth staying here just for the food.
Another superb stay at The Hightae. This a gem of a place - spotlessly clean, warm and cosy and the most friendly of service. Food is absolutely delicious. Can’t recommend this highly enough.
The hosts were exceptionally welcoming and the Inn itself is cozy (log stove) and the bedroom was very comfortable and quiet. The food was freshly prepared and of a goof quality - Morag is a skilled cook. Breakfast comprised choices and my sourdough pancakes with bacon and maple syrup were delicious. I would go back again and know I will enjoy my stay.
A lovely former pub converted into a super comfy guesthouse. We had an amazing stopover, Morag is the most helpful and friendly host anyone could want, and made us an amazing breakfast. The room was spotless and so so comfy. Totally recommended!
Our stay was perfect. The hosts were amazing, the food was to die for and the price extremely reasonable. We are well travelled Canadians and the Hightae is at the top of our list of good experiences.
What a lovely welcome , despite me arriving a little early and the weather being a tad wet! Room warm and comfortable, guest lounge lovely, meals mmmmm, well the best salmon I've ever tasted,! It was a very nice place to stay. Small and homely with lovely host and hostess.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hightae Inn. It has lovely character, the room was very clean and comfortable, the hosts were very friendly and attentive and the food was excellent.
Would recommend it.
An excellent "restaurant with rooms" - friendly welcome, spotlessly clean and comfortable room, lounge to relax in and then a beautifully cooked meal.
Short menu (3 or 4 choices for each course), top quality ingredients and some real flair in the cooking and presentation.
Comfy bed, good night's sleep and then a great breakfast - not a ridiculous 'plate busting' Full Scottish, but a selection of impeccably cooked hot items (eg smoked salmon and scrambled eggs) and lots of fruit and cereal and toasted home-made breads.
It's a lovely place - with lovely hosts we'll be back

We didn't want to review this gem, as it is a rare find and by doing so more will want to stay. So We hope that by writing this there will still be space for us in the future. The whole experience was friendly, relaxing and a place we could visit time and time again. The food was outstanding and the breakfast was to die for. Five stars all the way.
