Travel from Australia, arrived at 3.00pm to check in, no room ready, sat in reception until 4.00pm. No apology given so a disappointing start. Went to the room, standard double and it was the smallest hotel room I have ever seen, a double bed pushed against one wall and not enough room to walk around the bed, tiny old fashioned bathroom. Fantastic location but over priced for what you get for your money which is not much!!
This is the ‘standard double’ room.

The rooms are always tiny. To use the toilet or shower (superior room), you need to stand by the wash basin in order to close the door, then you can access shower or toilet - it is VERY cramped.

I stayed in a previous hotel without AC (not advertised) so I change to The Strand and it was a nice renovated room with a great clean and bright bathroom and the best of all that it had a working AC

This property needs a total facelift. The Expedia rating is not accurate. Closer to a 2 star. The building is old. Rooms were stuffy. The bedding needs replaced.

Comfy and friendly

A comfortable hotel thats very central we stayed because its location to the Savoy Theatre. Staff are very friendly . The rooms are not over spacious but clean and comfy. Breakfast is first come first served so there can be a wait but the food quality good.
