I usually don't leave negative feedback, but my experience here was disappointing. The staff were rude and unhelpful, often saying "it is what it is." The room was okay, but cleanliness was terrible, with bugs in the shower area. Despite claiming to be sold out, there were plenty of rooms available online, and late check-out wasn't offered. This 5-star hotel felt more like a 1-star experience.
We have family in Braga and make it a point to stay at Melia when visiting. This is our first time back since COVID. It was just as we left it which is good and bad. It is starting to show its age and may be in need of a refresh. The mattresses are terribly hard. While the dinner and breakfast buffets are well priced, we remember the food tasting better.
Limited entertainment in room - the tv had no way of connecting to streaming apps and we couldn’t connect own entertainment devices in it. One of the robes in our room was dirty when we arrived. The cleaning lady came to our room and asked if we wanted cleaning, we said no and she just used the key card to enter the room anyway. The food selection at breakfast was very limited also.
We love the convenience of this property. Needs maintenance (bathtub spout fell off, shower door wouldn’t go on track air conditioning was not working properly) and deep cleaning. Otherwise, pool, buffet and experience is good.
