About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Family-friendly waterfront cabin with great views & canoes/kayaks. Pets welcome!

We are thrilled to share our three bedroom, two bathroom waterfront cabin with friends old and new in this magical location on the banks of the majestic Shenandoah River, close to Shenandoah National Park. We offer free canoes and kayaks, two traditional smoker grills, an outstanding firepit and a screened in porch that is the envy of all our neighbors.

The property is perfect for a multigenerational vacation or for sharing the slow and peaceful life in the Shenandoah Valley with friends and family - furry or otherwise. EVERYTHING is provided, except food and ice. Enjoy grilling, fishing, tubing, and making S’mores around the firepit, or simply take in the view of the forest and river from our elevated deck and screened in porch. We provide the charcoal, kindling and starter. Alternatively, visit Luray Caverns, George Washington National Forest, Thornton Gap, Mary's Rock, Lake Arrowhead, or make a short detour to scenic Skyline Drive.

Canoes, kayaks and life vests are available on site for your use, for free. The lot is very flat and there is easy access to the river for the kayaks and canoes. Paddle up river and back down from the property, or head over to Shenandoah Outfitters 5 minutes away and get a river ride with the Pros.

Our cabin is equipped with central A/C and heating, washer, dryer, dishwasher, Keurig - even an electric can opener! Linens, towels, and all kitchenware are provided. We also provide free firewood and charcoal for the firepit and two charcoal grills.

This is a rural cabin so the Wifi is not quite as fast as you might be accustomed to, but we do make it available to our guests for free. Cell phone service is also spotty, depending on which carrier you have, but the Wifi is usually fast enough for messages and calls. There is also a landline you can use to dial in to virtual meetings.

The town of Luray, VA and all its associated amenities is only 12 miles, so if fast internet is required at any point during your trip you can head over to any one of the trendy establishments in Luray (Broad Porch Coffee is my favorite) and connect there.

Please note that you will need to climb lots of stairs to get into and out of the property. It's on a raised foundation as it was originally built on the river's flood zone.
Make yourself comfortable in this air-conditioned cabin, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. There's a private balcony. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Conveniences include a phone, as well as a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as charcoal grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Weekend at the river
House was clean and comfortable. , basic amenities. Nice distance away from city for quietness. Was disappointed with fire pit by river, was looking for to using but all the cars were complete rot. Would have broken if you tried to sit on so we didn’t even go down there.

Nice river view
Nice river view and a nice size porch, central air conditioning was great, nice size rooms, owner and property manager was great, only downfall this was the only vrbo property i used that requires you to drive a mile away so you can put your garbage in a dumpster

Fantastic get away
Overall this location was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The only downside was construction happening at the properties to the left and right that sort of made for a less peaceful weekend escape from the city. No control over that and we still made the absolute best of it. The river access was fun for the kids and we all loved being able to hang as a family by the fire pit at night. 10/10 would recommend And book again!!😊

Can't Wait To Go Back
Loved this property. My girls and son-in-law and I love to kayak and fish. The property location is perfect. Close enough to Luray to grab all your food and essentials but far enough to enjoy seclusion and privacy. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us. The fire pit was perfect and the river and fishing was excellent. There is easy access to the river. We had so much fun and the property owner communicated well and we felt comfortable with all the directions and information. We have no complaints. You won't be disappointed! Can't wait to go back.

Lovely getaway
We had a wonderful time in this riverside house. As stated, there are a lot of stairs but the trade off is a spectacular view. We took advantage of the canoes, kayaks, and firepit and grilled out for dinner. We drove in to Shenandoah for a day of hiking and spent tbe rest of the time relaxing. We were able to see bunnies, deer, and tons of fireflies. Only negative would be the sleeper couch is not the most comfy but the kids didn't care one bit. Thank you for sharing your home!

Magical location
Our 5-day stay on the banks of the river celebrated a family milestone in comfort and beauty. The cottage was spacious with multiple dining areas (2) and gathering areas (4) both inside and outside. All the appliances served us well, and the beds were comfortable. We appreciated the quiet neighbors and no outboard motors on the river. Having kayaks and canoes on the property (no need to rent) was a real highlight. Two unfavorable aspects: the cottage could have used a beginning-of-the-season deeper cleaning (porch walls showed spray marks that would have been easy to remove; debris around windows and doors); and small maintenance tasks are needed (flooring split, screen door malfunction, blinds in small bedroom). In other words, just a few hours of work would have yielded a 5-star review!

Scenic spot on the river
The views from the property are amazing. The location on the river for fishing and kayaking was convenient. Very responsive owner when issues arose, he brought new grill and coffeemaker during our stay. The house is a 20 minute drive from Luray. While the inside was clean the outside is in need of some TLC, especially the porch screens.

Clean, well equipped home.
Everything was lovely. Cabin clean and well supplied. Many nice outdoor features; canoes, kyaks, bags game, large fire pit with ample firewood, wagon to transport firewood. Listing is a bit misleading indicating there is a hot tub. There is no hot tub, only bath tub in bathroom. Other than that everything is terrific!

What a Relaxing and peaceful home!
We had our annual girls trip of mostly 50+ fun loving ladies here the first week of September 2023. The home was clean, had all the amenities we needed and the views were spectacular! The owner was hands down the best I've dealt with yet on quick communication and even stopped by at one point to address a previous concern. Enjoyed talking with him. As previously said, the views are spectacular and although we didn't get in the water, we so enjoyed lazy breakfasts on the screened in porch while watching others fish, paddle or tube in it. We did have some issues with the unusual locks to the outside porches and one of the door handle pieces kept falling off but he assured us that was on the to do list for renovations. Some minor scratches on the walls were also on his list. There were some cobwebs here and there on the porch but that's most likely from the many mature trees shading the property and providing an inviting home. I deal with the same on a daily basis on my shaded porch. FYI, double check GPS directions before starting off on exploring the area. We had a couple instances of Ggle maps taking us on some treacherous back roads instead of easier paths that affected some of our group with vertigo and height issues. Would 100% stay again in the future! Thanks again for some wonderful memories!

Get away from it all!
What a wonderful time we had! The house was super clean at check in, great set-up, lots of items to use, such as cookware, towels, games, just everything! The canoes were fun, fishing was nice and quiet, fire pit was cozy, and the beds are super comfortable! The stairs going up and down are a key point, pack smaller, lighter bags to make it easier, my in-laws just took it nice and slow. Close to Luray and Skyland resort. Would definitely rent again!

Family Time and Relaxation
The river was amazing and made this our best vacation yet. We enjoyed having the fire pit right down by the water. The house was perfect for relaxing during the morning and night hours. The kids enjoyed having the stand-up shower and soaker tub. The kitchen was spacious for cooking and the whole home had more than enough space for a group of 8. The screened in porch was great for relaxing after cleaning up from river fun and enjoying a drink. Many of us kayaked for the first time and we were even able to get one of the teens to pick up a new hobby. The river is a great opportunity to learn.

Awesome house on the river!
The house was great!!! -AC worked great -Beds very comfortable -Plenty of wood for fire -Screened in porch was awesome -Kitchen was plenty big enough to cook and properly supplied Only negative was the internet (very slow) however Cesar put this in the description so it wasn’t expected to be good, just that if you’re planning on trying to work it will be very difficult. But can’t say enough on how great the house was, did a dads trip with six grown men and had plenty of space to stretch out and had a great time! We tubed all 3 days we were there. First day we put in at the boat ramp about a mile up the road the next 2 days we put in at bealers ferry boat ramp which is about a 3-4 hour float and floated right down to the house. Never had to contact Cesar while we there being that everything went great!! He also has kayaks on the property which was a lot of fun too. No complaints at all, we will be back again next year. Thanks again, Cesar!!!
