Montebello is a splendid family villa on the shores of the beautiful Laguna del Sauce a few kilometers from the Solanas white sand beach and dunes and less than 20mn drive from the world famous Punta del Este resort town. Its unique style combines French provencal architectural charm with Uruguayan tradition. It is surrounded by a 12 acres landscaped park including a heated swimming pool, private Laguna beach access with an overwater deck. Pool and park night lightings make for extended outdoor evenings of enjoyment in the Uruguayan culture. The outdoor parilla area (BBQ) under a naturally shaded Pergola will be the center of your family reunions.
At Montebello, ever changing views and sounds of the beautiful surrounding nature with omnipresence of water from the pool, the laguna and the ocean will enchant yours senses and make for a very relaxing retreat.
With 7 bedrooms including 3 master-bedrooms with adjoining full bathrooms and 6 bathrooms overall, the house is made to welcome large families or groups of families and friends alike.
Nearby, you will have a choice of campo, beach and sports activities. The backcountry of Montebello offers the vast virgin territories of Uruguay for horseback riding with local gauchos or simply relaxing walks and hikes. The Pataya farm is a nearby farm where the traditional Dulce de Leche is fabricated and where children can enjoy live animals watching. Water is never far and a few kilometers from Montebello and its laguna, you will find the Solanas white sand beach, stretching for over 15km from the gorgeous Punta Ballena. At Punta Ballena, you will find the Casa Pueblo where famous Uruguayan architect Carlos Paez Vilaro created a stunning house on the edge of the cliffs. Finally, about 3km away on the shores of the Laguna, you will find the Club del Lago, a luxury resort with swimming pools, bar and restaurant, and several clay tennis courts with night lighting and a gorgeous golf course.
20km from Montebello, you will find the world famous summer resort Punta del Este. Punta marks the frontier of the Rio de la Plata with the Atlantic coast. Past the cape, you will feel the wind and the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Here shopping, restaurants and nightlife are wordclass. The harbor offers great views of the bay and regular ferry service to the nearby Isla Ghoritti. A bit further along the atlantic coast past Punta del Este, you will find the trendy beach towns of La Barra and Jose Ignacio, where local artists mix with trendy bars and surfers. Our caseros (gardians and house keepers) live on the property in a separate cottage house at the entrance of the park. They are here to welcome you and present you the house and the property at check-in. As your local contacts, they are also here to support you should you have any questions.
The house comes with basic services included: daily taking out of the trash, bathroom towels change-out (once per 3 days), pool maintenance.
The pool can be heated optionally when outside temperature allows (at least 18c). This needs to be requested in advance and the charge is us$100/day.
We courtesy provide firewood for the first parilla. Additional firewood can be purchased from us for 1200 pesos / 100kg.
We also offer daily cleaning service as optional payable service. The service includes room and bathroom cleaning (hotel style), kitchen cleaning including doing all dishes, and all exterior sectors including terrace, gallery, pergola (Parilla), and pool area.
