I recently spent one night at The Smokehouse Lodge and Cabins, and while the stay was memorable for its rustic charm, there were a few aspects that could use some fine-tuning. The location was ideal – nestled in Monteagle, the surrounding scenery was beautiful, and the on-site amenities, like the BBQ restaurant and general store, added to the experience. Our cabin was cozy, with charming wood accents that gave it a homey feel. However, the furnishings felt a bit dated, and the cabin could have used a deeper cleaning and attention to needed repairs (wall paint chipping, etc.). The bed was comfortable, but some of the linens seemed worn and the pillows were not the best. On the positive side, the staff was welcoming and eager to help, which made check-in and check-out smooth. The Smokehouse Lodge has a lot of character, and it’s an excellent stop for anyone seeking a rustic getaway. With some minor updates and attention to detail, it would be an even more appealing destination.

I was worried about booking here, but the reviews were all so positive. I was disappointed. The room was not good. The dresser and stand had holes in them and the sink was dirty (i.e., hair in it when I checked in). The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We only stayed one night but it was a nice property. The people were all friendly . The bed was comfy but the pillows were a little too hard for me. We had our dog and when we took her out at night you did not even need a flashlight it was so well lit.

On the plus side, the property is in a good location, very central for Monteagle. The cabin I stayed in was a great space, had a fireplace and an outside fire pit, and generally could have been wonderful. That said, the cabin was really dirty. It absolutely would benefit from a top-to-bottom heavy cleaning of every surface and window blind, kitchen (including glasses, dishes and I didn't even look at the pots and pans) and the bathroom, too. Sinks and tub didn't drain well and wi-fi was simply non-functional. I've never left a review like this, but what I found at the property was just the complete opposite of the reviews I read when I decided to book at the Smokehouse.

A little difficult if using a walker... steps and no walk in shower. I had called ahead and was told there was a walk-in shower in the 3 bedroom cabin so we upgraded. But I think there was miscommunication between housekeeping and office staff.
