I recently spent one night at The Smokehouse Lodge and Cabins, and while the stay was memorable for its rustic charm, there were a few aspects that could use some fine-tuning. The location was ideal – nestled in Monteagle, the surrounding scenery was beautiful, and the on-site amenities, like the BBQ restaurant and general store, added to the experience.
Our cabin was cozy, with charming wood accents that gave it a homey feel. However, the furnishings felt a bit dated, and the cabin could have used a deeper cleaning and attention to needed repairs (wall paint chipping, etc.). The bed was comfortable, but some of the linens seemed worn and the pillows were not the best.
On the positive side, the staff was welcoming and eager to help, which made check-in and check-out smooth. The Smokehouse Lodge has a lot of character, and it’s an excellent stop for anyone seeking a rustic getaway. With some minor updates and attention to detail, it would be an even more appealing destination.
