Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The property is located off a main road and has good parking. On our arrival we had to wait some time before the receptionist appeared although she was very friendly and helpful when she did arrive. We were not expecting five star luxury but would put this in the lower 3 star, almost 2 star, category. Our lower ground floor room was clean but the lighting was very dim so it was difficult to read. The bathroom ceiling light and one of the spotlights didn't work but was fixed promptly when we reported it. The fixed head shower over the bath had blocked ducts and water sprayed in many directions, including the ceiling. It felt like a forgotten room that had simply been cleaned and had the beds made up ready for us. The hotel was also extremely cold due to the boiler having been out of commission for a couple of days with a repair date set for the following week. (We were eventually provided with an electric heater.) Our evening meal was a complete disaster. It took 3 attempts to find a red wine that was available, the wrong soup was delivered, and one of the main courses had a pie crust with the consistency of concrete. The server was very apologetic about the problems and the management made suitable adjustments to the bill but it was a memorable dining experience for all the wrong reasons. I would hesitate to recommend this hotel.
