Waste of money, find better
Really bad service throughout, on this our second stay here. I reserved an evening meal table and understand the staff were busy due to a wedding party, but we are all customers and deserve to treated the same. Food was not as I would have expected. Certain members of staff were polite, but others just impolite and it was obvious they were stressed due to the workload. Breakfast here is a complete shambles. As the state on arrival its between 8 and 9 but again the staff cannot cope. you queue for hot water for the tea and coffee machine which takes it seems 3 minutes a cup and when trying to get 2 cups it seems longer. When the breakfast you ordered does arrive its around 45 mins and cold, I sent mine back only for another 5 minutes wait, it actually came back colder. I just left in disgust. Save you money, there is easily better

The staff were very helpful and obliging and the food was very nice. However, both my bedroom and bathroom were small and overpriced in comparison to other b&b’s that I have stayed in.

Nice stay
The hotel was nice and the food was really good although service quite slow. However on the down side there are a couple of rooms where there is only a skylight window and unfortunately we were in one. The room was comfy and spacious but very musty due to lack of air.

In the Centre of Melrose and budget priced, good free parking, nice bar with real ale , were the plus factors. No lift, no towel rail or anti-slip shower mat were the minus factors.

The hotel seemed poorly-managed. The room needed decorating, blinds/curtains renewed, extractor fan improved, a decent-sized TV installed. The breakfast room was over-filled with tables/chairs so that it was barely possible to access buffet items. No marmalade; Scotland honestly! Poor value

I went to a music festival on my Birthday 1/9/24.... looking for accommodation close by .... phoned the hotel to ask about transport and taxi in the area ....lady on reception was very helpful with this....then I asked for early check in if possible as we wanted a wash and change before heading to festival she said she try her best We arrived Sunday lunchtime.....and she a room 14 ready for us.....the room was big and spotless can't fault it. We also had a lovely sleep...bed was brilliant. We had a lovely cooked breakfast with plenty of choices.....so all in all can't go wrong with hotel met all our needs.

The hotel is a little tired and old fashioned, and the room was basic but clean. All the staff were great. The food was good. Free car parking - useful as the road parking was limited. Melrose is a pleasant town to visit.

Alright if you’re happy with basic.
Good location for the centre of Melrose which we booked at last minute for a night away. Friendly staff at checkin; however, the hotel itself could do with some investment. Whilst it was fine for the night, we wouldn’t want to have stayed much longer. The room was very basic and dated, no window as such, just a roof light. Overall it didn’t feel the cleanest and you could smell the kitchens when on the first floor. The reviews suggested 8/10, but this seems rather high for the night we experienced. Fine for a basic stay, but wouldn’t recommend for a couples night away.

This property is great value, easy to access very friendly, clean and comfortable, it’s not fancy but I’ve stayed there twice now and would go back. Staff were ultra helpful & kept kitchen open later for us on late arrival.
