We'd never been to a B&B before, and after this experience, I'm not sure any other B&B can now live up to my lofty expectations. The stay was amazing, from the location to the facilities to the food and most importantly, the hosts! La Canonica di San Michele is a gem tucked away in a (very) small village atop a hill in the Tuscan countryside, so it feels remote yet it is only about 10-15 minutes away from medieval Siena. The inn was well-aportioned with comfortable and homey amenities that truly made one feel as if they were a guest in a friend's home. The grounds feature great views of the surrounding countryside and a small church dating from the 1300s attached to the inn!
Breakfast was always an impressively expansive spread with homemade cake, custom omelettes, espresso, cappuccino, fresh fruit, etc. We had to leave very early (6:15 AM) on the last day, but rest assured - breakfast was ready and waiting. We also ate dinner here one night, which definitely exceeded our expectations. It felt less like a restaurant and more like being in someone's dining room - antipasto, pasta, meat, dessert, wine, everything. All made to order by Roberto.
Which leads me to my last point - the hosts Roberto and Stephanie are amazing. They are super friendly and welcoming and we truly felt like guests in their home. Roberto even provided us with a great itinerary for our lone day of sightseeing. Can't recommend enough and will be back if we ever visit Tuscany again!
