When I checked out I was asked if I enjoyed my stay and I can say that I answered with honesty when I said YES. All in all I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
Feedback for the hotel as follows:
Staff were exceptional. Very polite and helpful.
Facilities are getting tired. If this Hotel wants to retain its 5* rating and measure up to other 5* hotels then they need to invest.
1st room we had had faulty AC. Staff, being excellent as ever, immediately moved us to another room. Here we had working AC but the curtains did not fully shut properly or meet in the middle so we had daylight streaming in first thing in the am. Small issue but also very easy to fix.
The decor is starting to look very dated with threadbare carpets in the halls etc.
The building itself is fantastic and with some investment in decor this could be a truly amazing destination hotel.
Aside of the wearing furnishings, some small details like addressing the lack of cushions on the outdoor plastic rattan seats in the courtyard should be very simple to fix.
Last recommendation - the weekend piano player in the lounge just seems very dated. No offence to him, he was good but it was like being transported to business hotel in the 90s :-)
Anyway, this is also just personal feedback and I go back to my initial point. We very much enjoyed the stay. The hotel is in great location, the staff are great and Lille itself is an absolute hidden gem. We will be back!
