Altogether a disappointment. This hotel is seriously overrated. There are much better hotels in Mumbai, with better rooms and nicer and more kind staff. Location is not ideal if you visit for business. Breakfast selection is poor compared with other hotels. Save your money and find another place to stay.
I want to thank all of the employees at this hotel for making this stay for me and my mom a wonderful experience. This is a beautiful hotel with a beautiful location. When we arrived, I was incredibly sick at the airport and the driver, Steven, made sure that I was well taken care of. He called the hotel to let them know I was sick and for them to send a doctor to the room. The doctor checked me and my mom. She is an excellent doctor and she has an office in that hotel so in terms of health, you’re very well taken care of at this hotel. Our only issue was that there is very loud music playing daily at the breakfast area which is where our room was located. We spoke to a manager named Obsheka (I hope I spelled that right). She changed our room and I hope she gets a raise because she was just so kind and warm and welcoming and made me feel like she was my sister. My mom and I think she’s the best. I really want to thank her for giving us a great experience at this hotel and we hope to see her again on our next trip there.

A big disappointment altogether especially in light of the overrated reputation. Compared with my last stay there 20 years ago, it looks like this establishment lost its glory. Rooms are far lower than other five stars hotels in Mumbai. But the worst is an unbelievable rude approach of the duty manager who accused me falsly on tracking the room door loudly given a complaint they received from a guest in the upper floor... I wonder what kind of support elite technology got them to point this to me. Such a miserably stupid way to treat guests.
Maybe 20 years ago? Rooms are super outdated with paint peeling and scuff marks everywhere. Room amenities lacking as they use a very cheap Taj branded product that is subpar. Please for a “5” star hotel use a name brand like Acqua di Parma, Hermes, Molton Brown … can’t get away with cheap alternatives. Common areas looked great and are well maintained however, they forgot to carry that same standard to the rooms. Seemed they were understaffed. Restaurant breakfast buffet is okay but again, not what one would expect. I stayed at the Leela Hotels prior to Taj and hands down 3x better. Visited a colleague at the Four Seasons … seemed I picked the tourist hotel! Oh ….. hallways don’t have AC and on the 6th floor, super hot. Causes fluctuations in moisture between hall and room so there is a distinct smell of mold or musty. Water also runs down the entrance doors to the rooms. Be careful walking down the halls as you can slip.
Overall a wonderful experience. The property is beautiful as is the location. The rooms were a little small given the price so on value I felt it could have been better.
I Stayed there for 2 nights with family in Taj Palace room no. 477, the bathroom while taking shower was leaking water in whole bathroom floor due to leakage below the partition glass. Had informed the house keeping couple of time but not rectified.
One of the world's great hotels by reputation, a reputation it entirely deserves. The attention to detail is extraordinary (on returning to my room the first evening, my books had been provided with Taj bookmarks and all my computer cables were neatly bound up) and yet the staff are friendly and charming too. Perfection.
Iconic hotel. Amazing property. Rooms were fabulous as well as facilities. Staff were very friendly. Views were amazing. Easy access to neraby monuments. Children loved the pool. Food options were excellent. Overall a great experience. Looking forward to next time.
The carpet was soaking wet and uncomfortable near the window due to rains. The heritage taj palace building needs some water proofing done to prevent further damage to the room flooring.
