Clifton House - Big River North | 209 Clifton St. | Natchez, MS
Queen Suite in Historic Home | Mississippi River Views | Shared Living Room
With its unsurpassed view of the Mississippi River, Clifton House underwent a total renovation in early 2017 to add modern touches and make every bedroom en suite. The décor authentically reflects the love the family has had for this home.
When the first generation moved in, they brought period antiques, which were lovingly restored during the renovation. Each subsequent generation has added their own modern-day touches, making this guest house the truly gracious place it is today. The view from Clifton House must be seen to be believed. It is the only operating guest house located on the Mississippi Bluff Walk, just steps away from a casino, and from the downtown area with its restaurants and retail.
Big River North affords a upriver view of Mississippi's natural beauty -- an honest-to-goodness "Huck Finn's Wilderness" including "Old River," an oxbow lake that in 1840 was still part of the "Big River" itself. Visible, too, is the Clifton Heights Historic Neighborhood. The room is tastefully furnished with antiques and the comfortable queen-size bed is fitted out with our luxury linens.
An all-new, gleaming, Carrara marble bathroom – one of the largest in the house -- has a walk-in couples' shower. The original green blinds from 1904 have been redone and hung in this room by the same company that restores blinds for other historic properties such as Colonial Williamsburg.
Other amenities include cable TV and mini-fridge with snacks and cold drinks at your fingertips. Our location also allows convenient access to all that Natchez has to offer, and is just steps to downtown shopping, restaurants, museums, parks, and Antebellum mansion tours along Natchez's world-famous "Bluff Path."
Please note: There is no kitchen onsite. Guests have a private bed, but must share the downstairs living room, dining room, and coffee maker. Guests MUST climb stairs to access the home their suite.
