Great hotel for the price

This hotel was a nicely priced option for our family's visit to Texas State for new student orientation. There were other options up and down I-35, but this one was more reasonably priced. The staff and accommodations were excellent and our room was clean and all of the rooms have been well designed with families in mind (little things like a full mirror and outlet/counter top outside the bathroom, so multiple people can get ready at once in the morning). Our only complaints are that the shower heads were sub-par, which resulted in an unsatisfying shower. Also geographically, the hotel is very near 2 different railway tracks, so it's possible that your family will hear train horns pretty late at night (I think the last one we heard was after midnight). Other than that, this was a great hotel and a convenient choice that is near Texas State.

Terrific!

We enjoyed our stay in the San Marcos South Hotel. It gave us quick access (18 minutes) to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. Great access to restaurants and many other attractions in the area.

I have stayed here several times and this was the first time where the room didn't appear to be sanitized properly. The desk area, desk chair and table were dusty and had pieces of hair scattered on them. The restroom was lacking a toilet paper roll refill. The room did not include the typical nook where the coffee maker and mini fridge are placed. The fridge was just against a wall with a coffee maker on top. The AC unit was loud. There were also loud floor fans in the hall as if they were airing out a wet area. The pool water was not clean and green so we couldn't swim in it as we had hoped.

Amazing staff

The staff was the best part of the stay. They were so friendly and helpful. We needed to do late checkout and use a private room for a video call after checkout. They helped us figure everything out and let me hang out on property with the kids while my husband did his call. The building is starting to feel its age. The floor we were on smelled damp. The pool area wasn’t the cleanest. The breakfast buffet wasn’t amazing. But the awesome workers made up for all that.

Hotel was dirty During check in I was asked if I wanted room service and how often. Answered yes, everyday. Did not receive room service every day and when I did I was left a note that my services were not meet and to see front desk. I was charged $500 more than what my reservation says
