The best view in Cornwall?

Chandella Villa is a much-loved family home with a dramatic uninterrupted, ever-changing view of the whole of Mawgan Porth bay. The house is in a prime position with lots of space around it – the beach is just a few minutes' walk from the garden along a cliff path, and getting in to the shops and restaurants of the village is easy, too.

Mawgan Porth is known for its excellent surfing, wonderful beach (one of the few now that allows dogs) and dramatic clifftop walks. It sits between the picturesque Padstow and the more youthful Newquay, yet still retains its own character and charm.

PLEASE NOTE: there will be building work happening on the other side of the path down to the beach. This is to the left of the house (if facing the sea) and won't affect the view of the sea.

Inside, the focal point of the house is the long main room with huge full-length sliding windows looking out onto the beach and the sea. Bright and white, it has distinct sitting and eating areas designed for informality and relaxing. We have some new (and much more comfortable) sofas in the living room than the ones pictured - just haven't done the photo yet!

Also on the upper floor are two good-sized double bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with two singles), a large bunkroom with two bunk beds and a single, and a smaller room which can hold a single bed as well. There is a newly-fitted shared bath and shower room with a loo, as well as a separate loo by the hallway. Downstairs there are two double bedrooms looking out over the bay, one with a new ensuite shower and loo, and the master bedroom with a large ensuite bath, shower and loo. There is a hot shower outside as well, for when you come back from the beach!

The house has undergone a recent refurbishment but we have tried to keep the charm of the house, which still has many elements from its building in the 1970s – so please don't expect cutting-edge fixtures and fittings, or immaculate decoration everywhere...

The kitchen, for example, is perfectly functional – with a double sink, gas cooker, separate gas grill, fridge, dishwasher and a microwave/convection oven – but it was obviously put in about 20 years ago. Though once you see the panoramic view from the window you won’t notice the dated design.

Outside there is a spectacular wrap-around balcony for worshipping the sun on, plenty of parking, and a large lawned garden around the house. The garage is big, accessible through the kitchen as well, and makes a great place to put on wetsuits. It also holds the washing machine and dryer, as well as an additional large fridge freezer, a BBQ for outside use and a ping pong table. You can hire a hot tub as well (this needs to be booked well in advance, so contact us for details asap).

You’ll find that there’s little or no mobile signal here – which most people find is a blessing for a holiday break. But we do have fast free WiFi for those who need to catch up (you don’t have to give out the password if you don’t want to).

Chandella Villa has been at the heart of the most precious holiday memories for our family and our friends – and we welcome you to create your own ones here.
Make yourself comfortable in this vacation home, which features a fireplace and a Smart TV. There's a private balcony. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as an arcade/game room and gas grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Outstanding location
The view of the bay as we walked in was enough to tell me we had booked the right property. When the tide was in you felt you were on the bows of a ship! The stunning view was always changing, we never tired of it, and the direct access to the beach was perfect for our group of family and teenage friends so everyone could go during/swimming/walking when they wanted without having to use a car. The proximity of the local shops meant a supermarket trip was limited to once for the whole week so more time could be spent holidaying. We would thoroughly recommend this gorgeous property to any group wanting to escape to the seaside. The house is very well equipped, particularly the kitchen, with everything you could need. Ping pong table, wetsuits, body boards, outdoor warm shower, rentable hot tubs you name it! We will be back!!

Beach house with a view
Had lovely week celebrating a birthday with the family. Was lucky with the weather, only one day of rain. Would have liked some chairs out on the decking to sunbathe and enjoy the sunshine otherwise a great week.

Family break
Love the location … for the obvious and some personal reasons. The description of this property is spot on. You couldn’t wish for a more perfect location and the overall space is wonderful. Yes, the building is tired and the general standard of fixtures, fittings and furnishing isn’t what you would expect for the cost. But if, like us, it’s all about the view and the perfect location, it more than makes up for downsides. Thanks to Rupert for helping us have a truly memorable stay.

Our borrowed home by the beach
From the first moment of walking into the living room the wow factor hit us and we immediately felt relaxed and at home… The view is incredible what ever the weather and we had mostly rain and very high tide. It was an ever changing view and we have so many pictures and wonderful memories of a really fantastic family holiday… all want to book again for next year.

Big family holiday
We came back for a second year. With large family group including dogs and 1 year old baby. The house position and accommodation was excellent allowing nipping to and from the beach as needed. Hot dogs or hot babies ...no problem. Boardmasters meant not travelling South unless unavoidable due to traffic for a few days but for us this was not a problem as we were expecting it.

Great location , good house but tired. Plenty of space and comfortable. Areas in need of attention would be master bed shower needs super clean, towel rail in downstairs bathroom not working, outdoor shower could use power wash, more clothes pegs please and maybe lots of plastic hangers for wetsuits. All that said we had a fabulous time and love the house!

What a wonderful couple of weeks spent in a lovely family home. The views are as the owner states, possibly the best in Cornwall. My youngest enjoyed her stay there so much she cried when we were leaving. Would highly recommend staying here to friends and family.

The house is in an amazing position overlooking Mawgan Porth beach. It has all the facilities a beach house should have including ping pong which was well used. The garage could have been cleaned up a bit as it was a mess and it would be lovely to have some outdoor chairs and a table. We hope to going back.

Wonderful location
Our family of 8 adults and a dog had an excellent stay here. Communications from the iwner were useful, humerous and honest. Dewcriptions all fair and accurate. The weather was unusually super sunny (second heatwave of 2022) but the location and view from this house means we would have been happy here in a storm! Would say more good things but hoping to go back ourselves so dont want to encourage too much competition 😂

Excellent location with a view to die for
We had the most wonderful week at Chandella with friends. It worked perfectly for all ages. The teenagers could walk down to Mawgan Porth, the younger ones could head down to the beach and there was body boarding and surfing for all. The dogs had a wonderful time too! Lovely lunches overlooking the beach watching the waves crash in. We will definitely be booking again.

Just lovely. And what a view!
This house is wonderful - big and airy living area with massive balcony - you won't want to be anywhere else with that view to enjoy. Lots of bedrooms and sensibly arranged for different groups and multiple families. Very generously equipped - the garage is full of stuff you might need from wetsuits to a table-tennis table. The only thing even close to being a let-down is the kitchen - it's dated and a bit scruffy (even the owner acknowledges this in the useful and chatty information left for visitors!), but it has everything you need and the best view while doing the washing up ever! Has the feel of a much-loved family holiday home that has been used and enjoyed for many years, and that rubs off on you when you stay.

Fabulous view and great location
This is a fabulous house in an amazing location close to the beach and Mawgan Porth. It is let down by its interior furnishings ie the sofa is hugely uncomfortable but this is made clear before booking so we were ok with it. Would definitely stay again. Would be a wonderful house to stay in with extended family when we’re allowed to again!

It's all about the location which was perfect
This was a family holiday with 5 adults and one baby. It was exactly what we wanted in terms of a perfect location for coast walks, time on the beach and proximity to lovely cornish towns like Padstow and Port Isaac as well as national trust priorities like Bedruthan steps and Carnewas. There was a very comprehensive manual for us when we arrived which was helpful and also some thoughtful treats. 6 bedrooms and 14 beds allows for huge flexibility on how the house can be used. The house is very well equipped and really feels like the family home that it is. Great artwork and lots of personal effects are around the house. The family were also happy for some of their items to be used eg wetsuits (we didn't however!). The views are superb and easy to get to the beach and the local village of Mawgan Porth. Although we had no issues of consequence (there were a couple of power outages that we gather are common and did not last long) we were surprised that there was no contact with anyone from the day we arrived to when we left. Not an issue but since we were there for 10 days it might have been good for a short "how are you doing" visit by those looking after the property. Because its a family home the house is not pristine, its well used and shows the signs of being well used but that was no issue for us. Given how lovely the deck is we would have liked some furniture there so we could sit outside for meals or just to relax. None of the furniture in the lounge is really suitable. I know the family plan some upgrades and that will help but as it stands its still a super place for a relaxed holiday in a great location and we loved our time there. Thank you.
