Hotel was excellent, room large, clean, modern, huge bathroom with walk in shower. Unfortunately restaurant shut on a Sunday evening so couldn't sample. Village a little too far to walk and no decent restaurants we could find. Saumur 20 min drive away
We enjoyed our stay. The facilities in our room were fine but there was no shelter from the heavy rain when we attempted to lock/unlock our door - small porch would be good - we didn't want to wear outdoor clothes to go to eat in the hotel.Last time we stayed in the main building and that was fine.
The food offered was good but, unlike the last time we stayed the atmosphere in the restaurant was not really welcoming or friendly.

Plan for Bastille Way
This is a basic room chosen based on price. The landlord went out of his way to get us admitted despite the fact that it was closed for Bastille Day. Silly Americans, we didn't realize that we would have difficulty getty a meal in Chateaugrion and even Renne. Didn't make for the best of stays.
If you arrive on a Monday, you'll find that you are unable to check in until 6.00 pm (The hotel door will be locked). Furthermore, the restaurant operates on a restricted basis. There appears to be only one sitting and everyone has to sit on a table set out in the middle of the restaurant. On a Monday, there is only one other restaurant open in the town - a pizzeria. When we visited, this also operated on a restricted basis (no salads, no bread).
The hotel room that we were given, however, was fine and the owners were friendly.
I hope this is an aid to those guests travelling to the Hotel on a Monday. Having travelled from a stay with friends in Calvados Normandy, some distance over 250 km, We discovered the Hotel did not openits doors to guests until 18.00 hrs.If we had known we would have planned our journey differently and not to arrived mid afternoon but early evening.
Really nice, friendly hotel in the centre of Chateaugiron. Lovely rooms and big comfortable beds! Make sure you eat at the restaurant, the food is incredible! I'd definitely stay there again if I was passing through the area.
