The Orangery apartment, Chateau de la Trousse

2 bedroom apartment (sleeps 5) in part of a converted Orangery on a Chateau Estate, 35 minutes from EuroDisney. Set amidst 40 acre private grounds, 35 minutes from EuroDisney, 40 minutes from Paris or CDG airport by car, or 50 minutes into Paris by direct train. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, sleeps 5.

The apartment has a ground floor open plan kitchen-diner, with patio doors onto the front terrace overlooking the picturesque Chateau de la Trousse, and back terrace onto the formal gardens towards the swimming pool. First floor has a double-bed and private shower and toilet. There are steep stairs to the upper floor, where there are three beds, with a private shower and toilet. The top bedroom can get hot in the summer and there are fans to help.

There are formal gardens and pond, woodland and orchard. 40 acres to explore. There is a shared outdoor tennis court and swimming pool. These are usually operational from late May-September each year. Please check with the owner for precise updates to avoid disappointment. The pool can be cold - so beware!

The Orangery is 5 minutes' drive into Lizy-sur-Ourq where there are trains (free parking) to Gare de l'Est, or sometimes better to go from nearby Trilport where the service is direct. Lazy has two supermarkets, bakers and universal car charger.

The Chateau is set in glorious countryside, close to the Champagne region and 35 minutes' drive from EuroDisney. Car needed, but currently no electric charging facilities at the Chateau. It is 40 minutes from Charles de Gaulle airport so occasionally we get planes overhead.

Equipped for self-catering holidays, but parties not allowed.

This is our holiday home and we'd love you to enjoy it too. This is an exclusive private Chateau estate – please respect the history of the place and the privacy of other owners and their guests. We love it and we’re sure you will too.
Make yourself comfortable in this apartment, which features a fireplace. There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Conveniences include a desk and a microwave.
Enjoy recreation amenities such as an outdoor pool or take in the view from a garden.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Major issues on arrival
On arrival we diligently followed access instructions, punched in code but door would not open. This was past midnight and the location was middle of nowhere without a soul in sight. We had 3 very tired children in tow. Phoned owner multiple times but no answer. Had no idea what to do - sleep in the car? Tried knocking on random doors no answer. Finally found a person in one of the other properties who was awake and luckily he helped us. He had the number of someone else involved in managing the property who luckily answered the phone at 1am and gave us different access instructions. The door we were meant to access had been bolted from inside. We entered a different door using key locked away in a different place with a different passcode. Later in the week I was accosted by same lady asking what I was doing on site - when I explained who I was she proceeded to blame the previous tenants for the issue as they had left the door bolted (surely someone had been in to clean in the interim, surely they should check that the next tenants can access?). This really annoyed me, a simple apology would have been more appropriate. The owner, when he texted me the next morning, did apologise but frankly a text apology is insufficient for the stress caused. For balance the owner answered all subsequent queries very quickly. The property is nice albeit a little cold and facilities are basic (no washing machine, dodgy hot water, old utensils). Site nice but someone stole our kids football.

A beautiful Chateau
We stayed here for three nights as a family. The grounds and Chateau are beautiful! The kids loved the pool and the residence was neat and tidy. We stayed during a heat wave. The loft had a fan, however our room didn’t! We have never been so hot; so had terrible sleeps. Would suggest a fan for the second bedroom.

A beautiful and peaceful escape
Château de la Trousse is a place to fall in love with if you’re looking for somewhere quite and restful in a stunning setting. Tom’s apartment has everything you need for a cosy winter break, from the comfortable beds and the wood-burning stove to the beautiful Denby crockery and brilliant range of good old DVDs!

France as it used to be.
What a great little hideaway. A really interesting re-furb of part of this very interesting building, itself part of the estate of a grande chateau. If we had kids they would have loved their second floor bedroom with beams crossing the room. We loved the entrance through the grand arch, the comfortable furnishings and the privacy. It was a privilege to be able to wander freely around the chateau grounds. Would definitely return for the style, privacy and comfort.

Tranquil setting in a great location
My wife and I along with our granddaughter (aged 3) had a wonderful 4 nights in the apartment. The grounds of the Chateau provided an idyllic location for relaxing after each day of activity. There are 2 supermarkets not far from the apartment for buying provisions but be aware they close at 1pm on a Sunday. The keypad entry at the main gate is located on the left of the left gate and is not obvious to see! Disneyland is easily reached by car and Paris by Train is easy too. Overall, Tom and Rachelle's apartment offers excellent value for an escape to this region of France.

Rustic accommodation in a beautiful setting.
We absolutely loved our week in the orangery. The property was exactly as the photos and the grounds were stunning and very tranquil. We loved the simplicity. It was lovely sitting outside in the space immediately outside the accommodation. The pool was fantastic, very clean and the perfect temperature. We spent two days at Disneyland which was 25 minutes drive away and 1 day in Paris which was a simple train journey from the nearby town and took 45 minutes. We can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic relaxing family time😁
The location and property are beautiful, and perfect for families. The privacy and security the grounds give allowed the kids to cycle round on their own, and the pool was a clear winner with all. The use of the tennis courts was great too. The property itself is lovely, well managed and equipped. The number of books, games, dvd’s and other items provided for use is great- the kids loved the jigsaws in particular. We cycled locally, and the castle in Chateau-Thierry felt like a private viewing as there were so few other tourists. Thank you for a wonderful, relaxing family week!

Perfect for us
A lovely apartment in a beautiful location. My boys swam daily in the pool and enjoyed the tennis court. Tom was very fast to answer any queries we had. We went to Disney which was an easy 30 min drive. We took the train into Paris and also visited Reims and Epernay. I would love to stay at Chateau de la trousse again.

Fabulous- Tres Bien
The perfect place for our holiday in France. Great location to access Paris ( by train) and Disneyland (by car) as well as many other wee places to explore in our time in the area. We really felt we had experienced a real taste of France in our weeks stay. Our only small issue was there was no facilities for washing clothes and with strict rules on no drying outside even hand washing was tricky. We found a launderette in Lizy on day 8... details of this would've been most welcome earlier in our stay. That aside everything was there we could've needed and the setting was stunning.

Fantastic Place in Beautiful Interesting Surrounds
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The owner Tom was prompt and informative in relaying information prior to our arrival. The beds, including one for our baby granddaughter, were all made up upon arrival. The steps up to the top bedroom are steep but OK even for my old knees. It wasn't a problem. Just watch your head at the top. The place is decorated in a rural style that has everything you need in a stylish and comfy way. The internet was very good. A washing machine would have been good but we managed. We highly recommend the Orangery and would love to return.

Charming apartment.
The property history is amazing! The apartment is well equipped, clean and charming. The grounds are lovely. Loved it. Spent a lot of time walking around. Playing tennis. The pool was very nice. About 40 minutes from CDG on back roads. Unfortunately, the property is in the flight path to CDG airport. They fly over most of the day, but are quiet at night. They are fairly high, but you can hear them. This is the only negative thing about the property. The owners are super responsive to questions. Great to answer any questions quickly. We would stay there again.

Gorgeous apartment in picturesque grounds
We absolutely loved this property! As gorgeous as the photos are, they didn’t do justice to the charm of the apartment. We felt immediately emersed in chic French style as soon as we arrived, whilst still feeling comfortable & at home. The apartment was equipped with everything we could need. The beds were comfortable. The upstairs room was fine for my 4 year old but we had to watch our heads when walking across it because of the beam so perhaps would not have been as comfortable for adults. It was very hot (outside was mid to high twenties all week) which Tom had warned us about & provided fans. The grounds were beautiful. Peaceful even with most of the other apartments occupied. The pool was lovely at the end of a hot day. Amazingly clean compared to most outdoor pools I’ve been in. My children enjoyed the swings & I saw older children enjoying the tennis courts. The gardens to the front & back were lovely. We enjoyed breakfast, dinner & peaceful evenings in the back garden- v private & not overlooked. The view of the rest of the grounds from the front garden was lovely too. We spent 1 day in Paris & 2 in Eurodisney - all very accessible from the apartment. There was a supermarket 5 mins away which was very convenient. You definitely need a car here, but with good roads & free parking at the station this isn’t an issue. We’d definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting a peaceful break close to the excitement of the city. We’d love to come back!

Wonderful May half term stay at The Orangery
We are about to depart after a 5 night stay at this lovely property. It more than lived up to our expectations (and the hot temperatures were a bonus)! The property was clean and tastefully decorated with more than enough space for us and our two girls. The outside space and grounds of the chateau were great. Our girls (9 and 5) enjoyed the swings in the grounds and the swimming pool. We hadn't expected to be able to use the pool a small it had sprung a leak the weekend prior to our visit (Tom the owner communicated this promptly) but it was fixed by our arrival and was very much appreciated after a day in temperatures of the high twenties. The location of the property was perfect. We had two days at Disneyland Paris planned and this was only a half hour car journey away. We also took the girls into Paris twice which was very straightforward. We caught the train from Lizy (and changed once at Meaux). We were caught out on a couple of things (nothing to do with the property); don't forget to validate train tickets after buying and don't let the kids take scooters if you want to go into anywhere. We scooted the girls to the Eiffel Tower but my husband was unable to come in as there was nowhere to leave the scooters and we were not allowed to carry them (our fault for not checking). A lovely family break. Thank you.

Attractive chateau setting
Good location with easy train access to Paris. Apartment would be well suited for a family and not so much for 2 adult couples. Bed room on upper floor with 3 twin beds is good for children but stairs to this level would be challenging for older adults. Our visit was in the middle of May and the upper floor was very warm with little cooling effect from the fan. Grounds and outdoor setting was lovely.

Loved this peaceful place!
Beautiful countryside, fabulous, quaint place. Idyllic! Great for our 2 tweens and their 2 parents. Easily sleeps 5. Main bed and bath on second floor, twin beds (3) on third floor with their own bathroom. Lots of extras like tennis rackets, bocce ball etc. living space is small but really well done. Fabulous garden view from the stove when cooking breakfast on sunny mornings and of course wonderful courtyard on the front as well. Host very responsive and easy to work with. You need to rent sheets and towels if you aren't bringing your own. Very happy with this location!
