The room was filthy. We are a family and travel frequently and I would never recommend a family stay here. The room was filthy and covered with spiders. We even killed a scorpion in our bed. Our children were scared all the time because of the spiders everywhere. The bathrooms were covered in water and we had to wear shoes to go to the bathroom. The smell from the bathroom was very poor and strong. I am sure this hotel was nice at one point, but it is in need of serious cleaning and attention.

Great views and central location
Great location, just up from the main town and water. Views are amazing. You can find the place but walking away from the main square and up a hill with shallow steps. Call the owner or get a taxi.

Like sleeping in a fairytale
Fairytale setting with an unbeatable view of the lake and town. The first hours there I couldn't stop smiling because it was such a unique place, like staying in a location storybook. From a practicality perspective, it has very comfortable beds, is in a quiet location that provides excellent sleep quality. Big balcony overlooking the lake, room to have friends out with you for a nice local wine. The owner is a kindly fellow who will go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. I will definitely stay here the next time I'm in Ohrid.

Patio, Wine, and Lake Ohrid Views
What an amazing property. Just a handful of rooms and all with stunning views of the lake. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine - the perfect accompaniment to the deck and views. The bed is extremely comfortable. The room is rustic and charming with exposed rock and brick walls. The friendliest host. Check out photos. Definitely what we were looking for. Great location. There are some steps, but well worth it.

Short break lake ohrid
Overall the Grebnos Stonehouse is good. It is not your typical hotel. You have a room with private bathroom and use of the owners kitchen. The room was nice and clean with a quirky bathroom built of stone. The balcony has nice views across lake Ohrid and has table/chairs/ loungers and parasol. Grebnos is located on a hill, the shopping and restaurants are a short walk down a steep stone lined path. This would not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Lake Ohrid is very nice. There are lots of very reasonably priced restaurants who serve good food. I would recommend lake Ohrid for a short break and the Grebnos accommodation for those looking for a clean and reasonably priced place to stay. The owners are very helpful and can arrange taxi transfer from the airport.

Grebnos - breathtaking views!!!
We stayed in Grebnos for 4 nights, and we had a really lovely time. The view from our room was stunning. It was amazing to wake up in the morning to the view of the lake and the mountains. Pavel, the owner, did everything to make us feel welcomed, he offered us refreshing drinks upon our arrival, the other night he gave us a bottle of a local wine, and because it was orthodox easter season we were treated with coloured eggs. Thank you for everything Pavel!

A very cozy cave with modern amenities!
Staying at Grebnos was a wonderful experience. Pavel was an awesome host who really made us feel very welcome. Staying in a stonehouse was a lot of fun, like sleeping in a very cozy cave with modern amenities. If we ever go back to Ohrid we would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Cozy place overlooking Ohrid Lake and Old Town
My girlfriend and I had a nice and pleasant stay at Grebnos. The manager was very helpful in getting us to the location as well as parking the car and carrying the luggage. The room was spacious enough, the bed was quite comfortable, and the balcony was truly a serene place to relax. The only con of our room was the smell coming from the drains in the bathroom. I hear it's a common problem in Macedonia of methane smell coming up through the pipes and the Grebnos Stonehouse Apartments is not immune from this. The smell was actually quite strong and we had to keep the doors to the bathroom and hall shut at all times. I understand that this issue might only be fixed as part of a large-scale neighborhood-wide sewer upgrade, but some interim measures such as having air fresheners could be helpful. Otherwise it would be 5 stars in every category considering location and price.

Expectations mis-set
Please note - this is not a hotel, it is closer to a BNB and you interact directly with the owner of the property. I didn't understand this and it made the initial interaction a bit bumpy. The owner, like most others I ran into - is extremely friendly. Ohrid is beautiful and lovely. I loved the location of the property and the view was fantastic. The town was loud - bring earplugs if you need more quiet to sleep (I live in a big city on a large road - but the music coming from the restaurants and bars was disruptive so late) Sound travels a lot in this small city, and you likely just pay for it by the fantastic location. When we arrived, our host brought us a bottle of wine (delicious Macedonian wine - I ended up buying bottles to last us the rest of the trip immediately), sat and chatted with us a bit and shared a glass with us. This was unexpected because I expected a hotel, but it was mostly pleasant. The thing that, for me, was a huge issue was he sat down and lit a cigarette. I hate smoking and the smell and everything about it, so this was very difficult for me. The owners have a dog, which barks when you come in if it is surprised. Between their dog and the neighbors dog, and again, the sound traveling, if people come in late, this is disruptive to sleep.

Amazing views and nothing too much trouble.
From the moment we booked we were contacted by the owner who offered to arrange our taxi transfer from the airport. Everything went smoothly. We were greeted as old friends and a bottle of local wine. The room although basic was very clean and the views were amazing. There was hot water, a fridge and a kettle. What more do you need?

Spectacular views from your private balcony
I'm not usually a big fan of guesthouses. I prefer a little more anonymity and a few more services. But this is one of my favorite places I have ever stayed. From the street the building locks like it is under construction or at least not completed, but inside you are in a traditional stone building, staying in a cozy room with a stone floor and walls. The real feature is the very impressive view from your balcony out over Lake Ohrid and the streets of the lower old town. The room had such charm and character and was so comfortable--especially with the little heater during an unseasonably cold spell (that made the lake so atmospheric). I loved staying here and highly recommend it to others. It is a bit hard to find. First, get yourself to St. Kliment's Square. With the Lake right in front of you, the old town rises to your right. A number of streets head off into the old town, but find "Czar Samoil" street, which is one of the main ones: a little wider than the others, flat at first, and with stores and restaurants lining it on both sides. Walk until you pass Pizza Leonardo (highly recommended) on your left and Restaurant Antiko (also recommended) on your right. A small street breaks off from the road to your right. This is "Methodi Pachke", the street the hotel is on. It widens and heads up the hill. You have a steep five minute climb ahead of you. You will come to the sign for the Guest House right before this street merges with another.

Great view, great host!
We stayed here for 1 night in March. We arrived via a hire car and found it very difficult to find the apartments through the tiny one way streets of the old town and our UK Sat Nav not recognising that Ohrid had any roads! A local taxi driver spotted our distress and went out of his way to help us find the apartments. The owner, Pavel "Pops" was extremely welcoming and hospitable right from the start. On our arrival he provided us with a cup of coffee and a bottle of white wine, together with glasses and a cork screw. We stayed in Room 1 and were the only guests that night. The room had a lovely view of Lake Ohrid with a large balcony with an even better view of the lake. We wished we'd been there in summer, although we were lucky and had sunny weather and sat out on the balcony. The bathroom was on 3 levels and was clean. We had a very good nights sleep on a very comfortable bed. The floor was stone and cold so I recommend you take slippers if you go outside summer. Pavel had the customer care aspect just right, on hand if you wanted him with any help he could give, but also respected our privacy. In the morning he spotted us on the balcony and offered us tea and coffee. He also allowed us to leave our luggage in the room after check out time as there weren't any guests due in that day. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The apartments are in a perfect location, right in the very hilly heart of the Old Town, within walking distance of everything.

Amazing views from the balconies
Pavel and his son are extremely nice and helpful. We had an issue with our hot water and they were on it right away. The location can't be beat. Right in the middle of the old town with a view to die for. I suggest calling Pavel upon your arrival in Ohrid and asking him to meet you so he can guide you to the hotel. It would be pretty hard to find on your own. The listing says there is a private beach but it is 22 kilometers away. However, there is a public beach just down the hill from the hotel (2 minute walk).
