Disliked: Room comfort
Way too noisy....avoid if you like to sleep
Way too noisy, the apartment is on the 4th floor and sandwiched between 2 railway tracks at window level. If you plan on sleeping stay elsewhere, we were booked in for 4 nights and moved out after the first night. Terrible. We then booked into a normal chain hotel (which was cheaper) less than a mile away and 100% better.
The place is clean and room for 5 people. The washer/dryer is difficult to use. We washed our clothes and can't find the function to dry the clothes. Wish the owner would have the instruction on how to use the dryer function.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
- Property can use better cleaning, particularly in Japanese standard. Lots of dust, cups had stains that could be washed off.
- Amenities were provided but not very usable. E.g., kitchen did not equip with sufficient utensils for cooking. Washer/dryer on outside balcony facing railroad track gathered dust.
- Room was quite noisy but we were surprising not impacted. We were probably really tired.
No internet - such an inconvenience for tourists. And a costly one for international visitors. Why not just charge a little bit extra and include it? Bins weren’t clean. Big book of rules of what not to do, rather than help with what was around in the local area.
Super close to Nakazakicho metro station, very cosy for family stay. There’s supermart just closeby, and around 10 mins walk to Umeda or Osaka Station.
I would not recommend booking or staying in Liz's Guest House in Osaka. Liz had poor communication prior to my stay and addition to that there are several reasons I am giving a negative review:
1) The home is not as pictured. The pictures advertised online make it seems much larger, with multiple rooms.
2) The wifi was very unclear and was not in the instruction booklet left on the table. I did not have wifi for the first whole day which made my first day in Osaka difficult to coordinate.
3) Lastly and most importantly, there were 2 hairs in the sheets of the bed (not mine). 1 hair was in the twin bed and 1 hair in one of the larger beds. This means the sheets were not cleaned properly.
I expressed my concern to Liz over the private message last week after my trip ended, but she has yet to respond.
I would highly recommend going with another place on expedia and not booking this one.

Guest House instead of a Hotel
Generally a good experience! We got the feeling of a genuine japanese apartment. For a longer stay I might have been put off by the fact that there is no real food/dinner place to sit and eat. There is a low living room table with couches on both sides in the middle of the living room which is also in the middle of the apartment- you often need to pass this area. But it is ok for family breakfast. The overall cleaning of floor, bedroom, kitchen, toilette and shower was good, but someone might need to spend some time dusting off the decorations and details.
The big closets in the bedroom was really good to hide bags, but I don't know why there was a super dusty floor lamp tucked away there? The AC was working fine and there is a extra floor fan to use (July =hot weather).
Another thought; you should have some kind of explanation/instructions on the hot water system. We had already spent 2 weeks in Japan so I knew how it worked, but if I would have come straight from Europe it would be much harder - especially since every thing is in Japanese.
The subway track outside the house is not optimal but it works to sleep with earplugs. Also remember to shut the window in the bathroom before evening, otherwise the restaurant cooking fumes will come in.
A bonus is that a gentle soul left an converter from japanese electrical socket to eu socket
with extensioncord and 3 european outlets. Yay! Generally I recommend this guest house to those willing to live closer to the local standard!
