Tropical Garden Cottage near Ocean and Ponds

Beautiful garden cottage in very private setting on several acres with fruit trees. Walking distance to Mermaid Ponds for swimming and just relaxing by the ocean. The unit has a full kitchen, bath and tub, fridge, stove and everything else you'll need for your vacation. Gated Access. We are a small 4 acre farm with lots of fruit trees in a jungle setting. Our neighborhood feels like old Hawaii and is very relaxing and quiet. We are completely off the grid and work with solar and water catchment, and ask our guests to help conserve energy.
Make yourself comfortable in this vacation home, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected. Conveniences include a desk and a coffee/tea maker.

Relaxing jungle retreat
Perfect place to relax and enjoy the sounds of the jungle! A patch of paradise with options to walk to the ocean or head out for local food, sights and entertainment. We enjoyed our second time staying here and will definitely be coming back.Host is very gracious, accessible and helpful with local info on sights and activities.

Beautiful destination, amazing accommodation, off-grid location
Joe welcomed us to his property with open arms. Great communication and the accommodations were excellent. It was really fun to experience a true off the grid lifestyle. I highly recommend staying here, we would definitely do it again!

Djungle Retreat
Perfect place to connect with nature. The cottage is on the grounds of a farm and surrounded by rainforest. The host Joe is very welcoming and all is very well organized. The farm is off-the-grid, meaning that thoughtful dealing with resources is a must when staying there. And at night, the sound of the coqui frogs contributed to the special jungle atmosphere. We slept very well there.

We loved our stay here in Pahoa, it was a tropical jungle complete with everything we needed. The property is definitely off the grid and the host advises against using a lot of water on cloudy, rainy days. Even with the few rain showers and some cloud cover we never felt that it hindered our stay. We LOVED the fresh fruit from the property and enjoyed as much as we could. The drive into the property is a true jungle experience and the sounds of nature woke us up each morning. Thanks for a great stay!

Perfect jungle getaway
This spot blew me away. Joe and Brando are fantastic hosts and gave great tips on the surrounding area. It is located next to some very interesting lava flows and beautiful beaches. Close enough to make a day trip to Volcano Nat'l park as well. It was a great way to experience Hawaii and a perfect place for those of us trying to avoid the big tourist resorts.

Out of the ordinary
Loved staying in this beautiful property. Joe communicated really well and gave clear instructions on how to find the place as it is definitely off the beaten path and the road there is was our favourite drives on the island. Would stay again.

excellent off grid experience
My husband and I spent three nights at Joe’s jungle cottage. Joe is an excellent host, answered questions and offered suggestions while never being intrusive. The property is beautiful, the cottage had everything we needed to prepare meals, rooms were comfortable and we were serenaded to sleep each night by the tiny frogs. We visited the mermaid ponds, Uncle Roberts and may other Puna sites. We highly recommend this cottage to others looking for an “off grid” or a more out of the ordinary experience. Mahalo Joe.

Tiny house in jungle environment
The green environment and the structure of the house are the 2 major attractive points! It's as clean as it possibly can be in such an area and you have all the equipment you need. The host is helpful and gives ideas to get you started in the area. If you like things a bit more junge-ly, this is it!
