The hotel is a nice villa-style building, with a charming entrance and elegant interiors (if not slightly in need of an update). Mondello beach is beautiful and just down the road. The area, however, is mainly residential, surrounded by unlit streets in the evening, and quite a lengthy walk away from any restaurants. Rooms are basic, there was not a mini-fridge and it was small, the lift was extremely old and noisy, wakin us up each morning. Breakfast was very wide and varied, with excellent coffee, but on the day we didn't arrive first everything was gone and not replaced, the breakfast waiter was unwelcoming and did not greet us back. The general atmosphere in the hotel was often slightly uncomfortable and a bit too intense for us, the hotel is small and it felt deserted. This is not to say all the staff were rude, a couple were very polite and one even lent us wine glasses to take to the beach for a picnic one evening. There was nothing particularly wrong with the hotel, the staff could have just been more professional and friendlier. Definitely good for a short stay in Mondello.
