Luxury 1830s Kippilaw Schoolhouse Farmhouse

Located in the grounds of the historic 1830 s Kippilaw Homestead property, the Kippilaw Schoolhouse is a dream country getaway for couples or small groups. Set on a 400 acre cattle farm, with 10 acres of beautiful gardens, 1 horse, 2 miniature donkeys (Helena, the grey donkey, and Ruby), alpacas and a shed full of chickens, and with access to the property tennis court and pool, the Schoolhouse is newly renovated, bringing together new appliances and a fresh
bathroom and kitchen with unique historical touches, all overlooking the Wollondilly River. The working farm also hosts black angus cows and their calves. The property features a pool for the warmer months.

The schoolhouse sleeps 4 across 2 bedrooms, the main having a queen bed and the second bedroom having 2 single beds, with a luxury, shared bathroom. It has a cast iron wood fireplace and firewood supplied for the cooler months, and ceiling fans for the warmer months. There is a dedicated car space proximate to the schoolhouse.

** Strictly no parties, no guests more than the nominated capacity of guests per room may enter thr grounds and unfortunately we cannot host anyone that is not a paying guest in accomodation onsite, on our grounds.

Full access to the grounds of the historic Kippilaw estate itself with rose gardens, orchards, a tennis court and pool (for use in Summer), along with farm animals (chickens, alpacas, 2 miniature donkeys, and and a horse).

Situated in Goulburn, the schoolhouse is a 15 minute drive through stunning southern tablelands countryside from Goulburns main street, which hosts all the amenities you would expect of a town of 20,000 people.

The schoolhouse is semi detached from the main Kippilaw estate, with its own dedicated entrance. Guests are left to relax in their own space. Apart from the owners of the property, we have a resident warden who lives onsite, but normally out of view of the schoolhouse. Onsite assistance is hence available if required, and we are a phone call away if required.

Breakfast for the first morning (cereal, milk, eggs, coffee and tea) is provided, and guests are welcome to help themselves to further eggs and vegetables (when in season and available from the chicken shed and orchard/vegetable garden).

** Strictly no parties, and unfortunately we cannot host weddings on our grounds.
Make yourself comfortable in this vacation home, which features a fireplace. There's a private balcony. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Attached at the rear to the 'big' house I felt a little upstairs downstairs! Loved the gardens, chooks, donkeys and outside spaces. No fuss check-in after we determined it wasn't 4pm as shown but 2pm. Recommend for city dwellers who want a taste of the farm life.

Lovely Farm Stay
We loved our 6 night stay at Kippilaw. Our children loved wandering around the gardens and seeing the animals. We played around on the tennis court and enjoyed sitting out the back of the school house in the sunshine. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We loved seeing where the peacock would turn up next! He was often on the roof and we could see him out the window of the top floor. It’s about a 15 min trip into Goulburn so far enough away but close enough if you need anything. It was also a good location for a day trip to Canberra and surrounding wineries. Overall we had a great stay!

What a gem!
Thank you so much for sharing your little slice of heaven with us Lynelle and Andrew! We loved our weekend of respite in Kippilaw. The space was so beautiful and much bigger than we expected. We had a great time chatting near the fire, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, and patting your gorgeous miniature donkeys.

Picturesque cottage stay with animals!
My friend and I stayed at the cottage for a few days to celebrate my birthday. The cottage was super lovely, and was actually a lot bigger than it looked in the photos!! It looks like it came right out of the fairy tale 😍 It's got a cute fireplace, huge kitchen, loungeroom, and bedrooms. The decorations inside the home were also really cute as well 😍 The beds have electronic blankets and each bedroom has a heater as well, so it was quite warm and cosy inside ☺️ They have a huge land around the property as well that we could take walks to and explore. There were donkeys, horses, an alpaca, chooks and a rooster, and a peacock. It was really nice to be able to interact with them and feed them 😊 The nearest town is Goulburn which was also a very lovely town. We also explored the area and loved it!! The only downside is that the phone reception isn't very good at times, and that there were not enough toilet paper rolls for us in the end, but if you are looking for a retreat off the modern world, the phone reception won't be an issue, and Goulburn is just a 10 mins drive away so if anything runs out, you can easily replace it ☺️ The owner and the property manager of the place were both really kind and helpful. And we really appreciated their help. We really enjoyed the trip here. I would love to come back here again, next time when the weather is warmer so I can use the outdoor swimming pool and the tennis court!

The school house is located on an estate adjacent to the main homestead built in 1837 on the banks of the Wollondilly River. The gardens are beautiful and serene with great amenities.

Wow, Kippilaw has a lot to offer, breathtaking views, farmyard animals and boutique accommodation.
We had a lovely stay at the Kippilaw School House. The hosts made us feel welcome and checking in was a breeze. The accommodation was as described with all the basic things you need for your stay. The gardens and grounds were great to walk around with our 6 year. Darrin the Farm Hand was a great help to all our needs. We will be definitely back for a stay in the spring time.

Beautiful accommodation and grounds!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Parkesbourne. The old school house was comfortable and charming. Wandering around the grounds in the afternoon sun was our favorite thing to do. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Old School House Parkesbourne
A beautiful retreat just outside Goulburn. Loved being able to walk around property & enjoyed seeing Angus cattle, donkeys, chooks & horse. A magnificent garden with tennis court & pool all available to the guest. A real privilege to be able to stay at this homestead and enjoy its part in Australian history. Thank you Lynelle & Andrew & special thanks to Darrin for his insight into the history of the area.

Perfect farm stay retreat
Absolutely beautiful property that delivered everything my friend and I needed for a study retreat. Schoolhouse interior immaculate, breezy and comfortable. The grounds of the property are stunning with a beautiful rose garden complete, lush lawns, farm animals, tennis court and pool. We convinced ourselves we had found the Australian version of a lovely Tuscan villa! Lovely hosts and wonderful fresh farm eggs which provided us with brunch, dinner and a snack. Can't wait to get back!

Absolutely beautiful relaxing staycation
We stayed in the schoolhouse which was absolutely wonderful. It's cosy and beautifully designed to optimize comfort. The fireplace was lovely and warm and kept the home comfortable and easy to relax in on cold days. We enjoyed our stay immensely taking advantage of the lovely grounds to walk and enjoy the winters day. The riverfront is fabulous and flowing to the max. Darren the manager was always on hand for anything we needed and his information and history lesson was great to hear about. We found everything to be top notch and the owners are brilliant communicators.. We highly recommend this property and will definitely return and tell our friends...
