This does appear to have once been a grand hotel, but it has since been neglected. While the entrance area and staircase still look impressive, the room was in poor repair, with a dated 1980s/90s feel. However, it was spacious, with a Nespresso coffee machine and two BBC English channels. The breakfast room was grim and the food average. Overall, too expensive for the poor quality. The hotel desperately needs money spending on it.
Located in the centre of Brest in convinient walking distance of the train station and various restraunts. The scrambled eggs at breakfast are first class, othrwise it's standard fare. Don't bother with room service food, way better to eat out. Nice touch is Nespresso machines in the premier rooms.
Booked this last minute as I wanted somewhere central and comfortable. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, the position was ideal and it was well appointed and great value. Couldn’t fault it.
I had an excellent stay at Le Continental.
In terms of the room it was very spacious and comfortable. I absolutely loved the balcony and windows and the views of Brest (see pics below... unfortunately I only took videos of the room so can't post them). I booked the Junior Suite and am very happy I did, it was worth it!
The service was excellent throughout the hotel-- front desk, housekeeping, all very friendly and professional.
The only thing that was good, but not excellent, was the breakfast. It would be great if they had more fresh options (i.e. fresh fruit salad, not pre-prepared). And it was a little strange that there was flour in the scrambled eggs. But it was fine.
Brest is a small city but it is pleasant to walk around with some nice restaurants and of course, excellent creperies!!!
Thank you again for a wonderful stay.
The hotel is well situated in the center if Brest: quiet but walkable, the staff is very helpful and the breakfast delicious and well worth it. Parking is also easy- we stayed there two nights and loved it.
Convenient to Le Quartz where my meeting was and in a neat Art Deco building. My room was large and comfortable, with more than ample closet and drawer space.
I like this hotel, but the room I had for this stay had similar design issues in the bathroom as my previous room (bottom of bathtub concave and significantly higher than bathroom floor, drain opening right where you stand for showering, so you step on it and push it down). Furthermore, when I set the air conditioner to cooling for the last night, it blew heated air into the room.
The hotel provides a quiet, clean bed and breakfast. it is not a "jazzy" or lively venue but perfectly acceptable for a comfortable and quiet night.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
The rooms themselves where quite comfortable but the exterior we of the hotel is quite daunting on arrival (peeling paint, dirty curtains apparent from the outside in obviously unused areas. But the interior itself is lovely Art Deco, rooms are quiet, good beds and good sized bathrooms with basic amenities. No fridge or tea and coffee or glasses (plastic cups in the bathroom only). Obviously the hotel has seen better days but it was perfectly comfortable with sccomidating staff.
This hotel was recommended in The Lonely Planet guide to France. Thé interior is art-deco and attractive. The weekend rate makes it a very good value.

Enjoyable stay
Located right in the city center, in a quiet area. Hotel does not have private car park, but a public car park is located opposite the hotel, free at night until 9am.
The Art Deco lobby is magnificent and staff very friendly and helpful.
Our room was really big for a standard room and kept with the art deco theme, however old furnitures aren’t everybody’s taste and dark furniture can make the room gloomy particularly when overlooking the back of the building.
Breakfast buffet was copious and had everything. Overall very good value for money during the summer time and good base to visit the surroundings.
