First the positives: located next to a beautiful river in a national park. Great to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine and read a book. Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to lovely little towns of Avallon and Vezelay, both of which are worth a visit, and also close to the Chablis area wineries.
Negatives: No air conditioning (it was 30C when I visited) and rooms are painfully small. No refrigerator in the room to chill the great white Burgundy wine you will inevitably drink. To get some air and perhaps a bit of a breeze in the evening, when you open the windows, bugs by the hundreds visit your cramped quarters. Breakfast for $14? Go to the Lidl in Avallon (about 5K away) and buy some croissants, butter, jam, cheese and meat for $6 that will last for a couple of days. Dinner for over $20 - I know, it's France, and the air is expensive, but this place doesn't need to charge that much for a couple hunks of meat and cheese.
