Cottage refurbished in a shabby chic style in 2015 with new contemporary kitchen/bathroom 2017.

This is an old quaint quarryman's character cottage built of Portland stone in approx 1810, with feature exposed stone walls.

The back bedrooms look out to sea and you can gaze out to sea from the the front door.

The Kitchen is fully integrated including washing machine. (no freezer). has ice maker. Washing line in the back yard on a pulley system for drying or tumble driers in laundrette a stones throw from the cottage.

The back garden is small but enough to sit outside and listen to the sea; is also a suntrap. We have hung plenty of hooks for drying surf/sailing gear along the garden wall.

The attic room is perfect to lay on the bed and listen to the waves below in Chesil Cove. This is also a tranquil place to relax or look out to sea, seen from the back bedrooms windows. There is a fabulous beach pub/restaurant a very short walk away that has good food and a perfect place to watch the sun set.

The cottage is staggering distance from the South West Coast Path which is an integral part of Chesil Cove.

For sailing enthusiasts the National Sailing Academy is a stroll down the hill and here you will find sailing/surfing schools which frequent the safe waters of Portland harbour. Beach/harbourside cafe's abound on Portland and Weymouth, where you can enjoy a drink or lunch whilst looking out across the waters from Chesil Cove, Portland Marina or the Fleet Lagoon. Weymouth harbour is beautiful all year round and retains its old fashioned charm with picturesque painted houses, cobbled streets and fishing boats moored in the harbour. Plenty of cafe’s restaurants here too. There are numerous festivals going on all year, notably the seafood festival in July which attracts celebrity Chef's and the Carnival in August. Not forgetting how famous Weymouth is for its fancy dress at New Year!

Wonderful stay at Portland
Property was very well equipped and clean, and we appreciated that some basic provisions were included. The location was great for walks, also good pubs/eateries nearby and the regular bus service into Weymouth.

Quaint little cottage
We had a nice stay at the cottage, it's cosy with a lot of character and it's a great spot just minutes from Chesel Beach. Also has easy access to bus stops for Weymouth Beach. Just beware of the steep roads and parking. We parked for free outside Chesel Beach.

Great
Super clean. Great for walking and catching bus to Weymouth. Not good for people with walking difficulties, my mum and Aunt found stairs and hill too hard to climb, which Alison pre warned us about. Great views from attic bedroom.

Beautiful little home from home
We stayed for a week in August and from booking to leaving Alison could not have been more helpful. The cottage was stunning - so pretty and decorated so beautifully - totally my style! Fell in love with the little bug eyed stone animals!! The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge area very comfortable. Bedrooms were perfect for our family of 4 and my 14 year old daughter loved having her own top floor of the house! Car Parks can get very busy and on a couple of occassions we struggled to park the car (we have a big 4x4 so parking outside the cottage was always going to be difficult). Chesil Cove beach was amazing and only a 5 minute stroll down the hill (slightly longer coming back lol!!) - certainly blew away the stress and strain of daily life!! We tried to eat at The Cove House Inn but it was fully booked - so do take their advice and book early if you want to try it there!! Perfectly situated for exploring Portland and Weymouth - we had a lovely week, even though the weather wasnt that kind to us! Weymouth beach is stunning for swimming and we visited Dudle Door and Lulworth Cove too - lovely for swimming also. Thank you so much Alison! xx

Ab-fab!
Me, hubby and my 6 year old son absolutely loved our stay at Kate’s Cottage. It’s perfectly situated, with local shops and chippy all within walking distance. The view is impressive! The cottage itself was very clean and tidy. Alison (the owner) has thought of everything! Its cute, quaint, beautiful and comfortable. She even went to the trouble of putting the dinosaur lampshade up in the living room area just for my son! Lovely. Lovely. Lovely.

A Happy Easter
Just spent Easter in Portland and can not speak highly enough of Kates Cottage & Alison. Alison went above and beyond and it was greatly appreciated. The cottage itself was more than enough for 2 couples and 2 babies and appeared to have everything you could need. Thank you Alison.

Cute and cosy
We landed on the beautiful island of Portland by chance and were immediately enamoured. It's a very beautiful, special place and surprisingly also a good starting point for exploring the Jurassic Coast. The cottage is very lovingly furnished to a very high standard, but what we didn't realise (and can't be seen in the photos) is that it is really, really small. Not suitable for families with small children or people with limited mobility due to the narrow and steep stairs. But we are not, it was fine for us, we had a wonderful time. Many thanks to Alison, our lovely hostess! And folks, park your car right at the entrance to the village, where it says "pay here" - the only car park without stress and with enough space in the village - and free of charge.
