This hotel was a great little gem, located just steps away from the river and the lively waterfront scene there. There are plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance as are many of the local attractions.
It is also located in the old, historic part of Porto that is an attraction unto itself if you enjoy history and architecture. The beach in either Porto or on the Gaia side of the river is only about 5 kilometers away (3 miles) and are easily reached by bicycle, Uber, or taxi.
The hotel is two separate buildings. The main building, closest to the river has the reception and breakfast room. The second building which is just a few doors up the street has apartments/rooms only. I was in the second building and my room was large, comfortable, clean, and quiet once the scene along the Ribeira shut down around 11 p.m. My room was also recently renovated with all hard surface flooring, a big comfortable bed, and a nice table/chairs set and a sofa. The room also had a small kitchenette which was all modern and new but I didn’t use it.
The bathroom was also clean and new, but like many European hotel bathrooms it was not designed as well as it could have been. Space between the toilet and the glass shower was an issue and it didn’t need to be that way.
All in all I was very satisfied with this hotel and my stay and it was a great bargain too!
