Accommodation near Prospect

Any service I requested was fulfilled. Staff was kind, and bent over backwards to make sure I got what I needed. These are hard working people, with a smile! 😃 The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. My stay was very comfortable.

The owners were attentive to our needs and provided us with authentic Jamaican meals, referrals to local sights, and history and current events of Jamaica. We felt like we were visiting relatives.

It is true that the villa is beautiful, and Long Bay is a great area, however our stay was not without issue. The villa is on a main road, and as such you get a fair amount of traffic noise, especially as they are fixing the roads in the area. I received an email to say that 'light refreshing of rooms' would be done, but apparently you have to actually tell the housekeeper what you want done. We discovered this after two days when we needed toilet paper etc. in a couple of the bathrooms. If you don't say please can you make my bed etc, it will not be done. The water pressure in the master bath is really poor. It means that it is impossible to fill the bathtub, and the shower is very weak. We ended up using a bathroom on the ground floor. Not ideal. The washing machine wasn't working properly meaning we could not wash clothes. The kitchen is poor. Only two out of five burners working, no kettle or toaster. I guess if you are using the chef service it isn't your issue, but as a family of four we were doing some meals ourself so it was a little tricky at times. The loungers by the pool are not as a picture online, there are three basic loungers, not the comfy cushion ones. No ceiling fan in the lounge or bedroom by the pool, no stand fans available either. This made for a few very uncomfortable hours when there had been a power cut and the AC could not go back on. Ming the property manager was great, worked very hard, but these issues were out of his control.

This was a very disappointing rental. Although the villa was very nice and we expected to enjoy our stay. However, the yard surrounding the villa was infested with ticks. Each of us had ticks on our feet, legs and clothing. We have a small dog who must have had several dozens ticks just by walking for a few minutes in the surrounding yard in the immediate viscinity of the villa. We didn't even need to go in the tall grass and we came back with ticks. It took us several hours over the next week to remove all the ticks from the dog. In addition, the beach was full of garbage because there had been a storm in the days before and they had not cleaned it. We decided to leave the next morning and ask for a refund for the days we would not spend at the villa but the host would not reimburse the totality of our remaining reservation arguing that he had "opportunity costs" and that ticks were to be expected because this was a farm. I could not believe that the host would use those arguments, we expected to rent a vacation villa not a functionning farm. It was insulting to be told that we would not be reimbursed for the unused days because of "opportunity costs". This is the worst customer service experience we have ever had with vacation rentals. We finally contacted VRBO who were very helpfull in getting a refund although it still was below the amount we had paid for the remaining days.
