I was disappointed with my stay at the Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta. I had high hopes since I’ve been to another Krystal Grand before, but this one fell short in food quality, customer service, and overall upkeep. It’s a smaller property — still nice in appearance, but nothing that truly feels grand.
The lady in the main lobby (the one with the overdrawn lipstick and crooked teeth) was rude and unhelpful, which really set the tone at check-in. On the positive side, the Expedia representatives in the downstairs office were phenomenal — friendly, helpful, and professional.
When it comes to food, the buffet was actually better than the restaurants that required reservations. I tried all three restaurants, and my advice is to plan ahead and arrive on time, because they won’t serve you if you’re late. The food overall was mediocre at best. If you want to grab food from the buffet, be sure to be fully dressed with shoes — the staff strictly enforce this rule, even if you just came from the pool. I ended up bringing an extra outfit to change into each time.

The gym and pools close early (around 7–8 p.m.), which was disappointing since we were usually out on excursions during the day. The swim-up bar was fun, and the bartenders were great, especially Eder at the infinity pool — excellent customer service! The infinity pool itself gets very crowded, with people leaning over the edge most of the time, but it has a nice view.
