The doors to the hotel would not stay open, making it difficult to get inside with baggage. The stairs were the only way to get to the second floor. With only one attendant, they were always busy helping other parties, leaving other guests to lug heavy bags up the steps. The tub did not appear to be scrubbed clean and the towels were very scratchy. There was a musty odor around/behind the bed, and the pillows were completely flat. The staff was nice, but this hotel is very tired and in need of some renovation.

Hard to believe that in 2025 that this establishment could not get their wi-fi up and running over the course of my stay from Monday afternoon until Wednesday morning. Also difficult to comprehend that the building has no generator in the event of a power outage like the one we experienced overnight Tuesday. Nothing better than waking up due to lack of oxygen because your C-PAP machine is no longer working.... If you get room# 236, pray that it doesn't rain. If it does you will be serenaded by water dripping inside the ceiling/wall by the door. No leaking in the room itself, but it will wake/keep you up. They give you a plastic gold coin at check-in to give to a staff member for going "above and beyond", in the absence of being able to find one, I awarded the coin to my wife since she managed to convince me to stay and was a trooper through the entire ordeal. The breakfast was marginal at best. Runny "eggs", stale bread, burnt sausage patties, NO BACON...

After arriving, we unloaded our travel snacks into the refrigerator which we found out the next morning was not working so we wasted about multiple sandwiches that we had premade and we also lost power while trying to just dry our hair. The power outlets on the table also did not work so we had to go to the store to purchase a plug with multiple plug-ins on it to use. The breakfast was not great. Eggs had so much liquid in them that they grossed me out. Sausage patties were undercooked or overcooked, none cooked right. The potatoes were overcooked as well. They didn’t even want you to bring your breakfast back to your room. If you only need a place to lay your head down and do not care about anything else, this hotel is sufficient but if you’re looking for a clean comfortable stay, this is not your place. Also, if you want to go to the restaurant in the hotel named waves, do not expect to get a meal. We put in orders and waited over half an hour to find out they hadn’t even started them yet.

Decent accommodation. Hotel and room was clean. Restaurant was nice to have on firat floor, but unless you plan to stay up late every night, ask for a room on the opposite side of hotel from Restaurant. The live music will make it difficult to sleep when you have to depart early in the morning.

We checked in Friday for weekend trip to Salem. Excellent front desk. Check in was easy and smooth no issues. The front lobby clean more modern style. Loved the old banisters leading the 2nd floor, decorated more retro style. We rented a king size room. The bed was comfortable, the pillows reminded me of hospital pillows and the comfortable from the 1990. The room was clean. The USB was broken so I was unable to charge all my medical supplies overnight at once. There was cooler fridge No microwave (photo show microwave) and coffee maker. The bathroom had 2 towels and 2 washcloths sham/cond/soap. The a/c ran 24/7 at 61 and our room was still warm. Saturday breakfast was dried old hash eggs pancakes burritos. Requested no housekeeping services except extra towels. Sunday breakfast was all fresh food and looked much better. The bathtub had been painted and is chipping. Paint coming off and floating in water during showering/bathing. The bathroom also had a bug crawling on the floor - unable to attached video. The Wave Restaurant was good atmosphere, pleasant staff and chicken fingers was tasty. They had a live band Friday and Saturday night. We went Friday night and had a great time. Looks like lots of locals enjoy also. They had a nice lake, with geese. Nice seating outside. Relaxing area. The first floor is very nice and up to date for the events hosting. Most of the gallery photo are of events. The motel photo gallery did not represent well.
