Kahlor Hotel convenient but just ok of a stay!
We were here for a stay at Mayo Clinic. Extremely convenient to clinic but the accommodations were just ok. The shower was cold, noisy in room (due to being in an attached room with flimsy door), tv worked 1/2 the time, refrigerator made lots of noise throughout the evening, just one tiny bar of soap. They need to maybe take a step up at the hotel that has people come from all over the world.

The hotel is very old. However, the remodeling was well done. The only restaurant was tiny and was a contradiction. The decor was elegant and the menu was more comfort type food.

Basically okay
We went to Rochester to see Judy Collins, being the old hippies that we are. We love old grand hotels that are in working order, & the Kahler is, for the most part. But the toilet in our room required almost divine intervention to work. We finally just flushed it by dumping in water that we we collected in the waste basket, having filled that ip in the bathtub. Other than that, it was alright. Restaurant was a little pricey, but food was really good.

Overnight stay
We had to stay overnight for medical services at the Mayo Clinic. The hotel staff made us feel welcome and helped reduced the stress behind the reason for our visit. The only issue we had was the room was overly warm and we couldn't get it to cool down.

Mayo convenience unmatched.
Walking distance to Mayo Clinic (via Subway) without having to go outside. Also somewhat reasonably priced. I encourage visitors to take advantage of valet parking. Also restaurant on site had great food.

Great People
It is a historic hotel with many things that make it unique. The staff is awesome. The bell hop Chris B was awesome! He helped us in so many ways that made our transition to and from the room and car so simple. The room was not very clean but it was ok. I dont like seeing other peoples hair in my bathroom. Ice machine wasnt working so the next floor I went each time. Seemed odd that things were out of service in a place that is so liked by many. Pool area was awesome! Again the people made it a great stay. Food onsite is excellent!
