The room was advertised as a room with a window, but the picture showed the window as a balcony, and we were NOT disappointed. It was a balcony, and our balcony was right out on top of the gorge, such a magnificent view that I almost got dizzy looking down at the drop into the gorge. Literally birds floating around down below catching up-drafts and whatnot. It is right ON the gorge, and staying in a room that overlooks the gorge is a bucket list item for sure. Wow!
Yes, the hotel is a bit older, but that is truly part of its charm. Want something modern and generic?--Find a Hilton in a big city. Want something authentic and fun? This hotel is it.
Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, telling us about a free concert that was going on in town the next night. My 22-year-old son and I attended the concert -- an 80s retro band -- and it was oodles of fun!
Lovely shops go on for streets and streets and streets throughout town, with good restaurants as well.
There are three parking spaces in front of the hotel for checking in and hauling in luggage. We then parked in an underground garage about a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
Never got a chance to try the restaurant, but chatted with the restaurant manager, and he was an amazingly nice fellow. They all were.
Such a wonderful and friendly small town and such a terrific hotel!!
