We found the house super. It was well equipped, with the kitchen having all you could need, and a garage with bikes, paddling pool, and tools should you need to do some car repairs. I loved the use of the bikes. Early morning cycles to the bakery for croissants were a pleasure. We ate outside in the lovely garden for every meal. We are a card and board game playing family, so the large table outside, huge sunshade, and room inside with circular table, were perfect for us. The weather was great. Who needs the Med? What to visit? The beach of the Cote Sauvage is a must. I think it is the most beautiful beach I have ever visited. Bike to the Abbey of Sablonceax, taking the GR path through the wood. Rochefort was great. The whole history of the place as a protected naval base many miles up river, the Royal Rope Factory, and to crown all the reconstruction of the 32 gun frigate l'Hermione. If you have ever read an age of sail naval novel you will be entranced. Your kids, and maybe you, will love the rope adventure area next to the frigate, built like a sailing ship. Greatly reccomended house in a great location. The house was a home from home, even if borrowed, meaning a real lived in place not a soulless apartment. Thanks Andy!
