About this property
Chateau De la Noblesse
Stay in a historic château on the banks of the Lot River set within forty acres of beautiful gardens and woodland, perfect for a family reunion, holiday with friends or romantic French wedding in the Lot-et-Garonne.
Find nine characterful bedrooms scattered across six stylish suites including the opulent master bedroom with its period furnishings and the one-bedroom rustic suite with river views. We also love the 2-bedroom self-contained suite with its own kitchen, lounge and even an artistic gym!
Seek relaxation in the impressive cinema room before gathering in the elegant lounge beneath the wood-beamed ceiling. The kitchen is the perfect blend of old and new whilst double doors lead from the charming dining room out to the wisteria-class dining terrace looking down towards the river and hills beyond.
Stroll around the landscaped gardens and soak up the artistic and tranquil vibe as you admire sculptures and bursts of summer colour alongside the heated swimming pool open from June to mid-September. Explore acres of private grounds and woodland, fish on the banks of the Lot River or simply find a peaceful spot for a coffee in idyllic surroundings.
Within 6km you can reach the gorgeous hilltop village of Penne-d'Agenais, home to Basilique Notre-Dame de Peyragude, or continue a little further to the bastide town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot with its twice-weekly covered market and occasional summer night markets. Hike as far as Pujols, one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ or spend time discovering the glorious landscapes on horseback, whilst fishing or hiring a boat in the summer months.
Head to local vineyards and wineries and take this opportunity to drive as far as Cahors, around an hour away, to sample some of the finest Malbec in France. A trip to the vibrant market in historic Agen is also a must, especially to sample local prunes soaked in Armagnac, or head an hour north to learn about the wine heritage of Bergerac.
As well as picture-perfect places such as Monflanquin, Monpazier and Issigeac, the iconic châteaux and villages of the Dordogne also await with Limeuil, Domme and Beynac-et-Cazenac around an hour away, just some of south-west France’s many gems to visit during your time at this enchanting château.

Location:
Château de la Noblesse is set within forty acres of woodland and grounds with a picturesque location on the banks of the River Lot, part of the Lot-et-Garonne department and around a 40-minute drive from the historic town of Agen.
The nearest amenities can be found within a 5-minute drive where you will find a supermarket and a small handful of places to eat. Alternatively, cross the river and wander up to historic Penne-d'Agenais (6km), a very pretty, small village with glorious hilltop views of the surrounding landscape. The Basilique Notre-Dame de Peyragude is especially impressive.
The riverside bastide town of Villeneuve-sur-Lot (12.5km) is easily reached and home to several historic sites as well as a twice-weekly covered market dating back to the 19th century. Night markets often take place in the height of the summer (in Villeneuve-sur-Lot and other villages and towns) – soak up the ambience as you try regional cuisine accompanied by local wine and usually live music.
There’s a stunning hike from Villeneuve-sur-Lot to the hilltop medieval village of Pujols, one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Other activities across the area include an 18-hole golf course just north of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, horse-riding opportunities, fishing for carp, perch and pike as well as kayaking, canoeing and local boat hire in the summer months.
Wine-lovers will adore the vineyards scattered across the area – wine tours and tastings can be arranged. For the most adventurous of wine connoisseurs, spend the day exploring the wineries and vineyards around Cahors (65km) where you can discover some of the finest Malbec producers in France.
Furthermore, don’t miss prunes soaked in local Armagnac, a speciality of the picturesque town of Agen (40km), also worthy of a great day out. It’s also worth noting that Bordeaux is only a 2-hour drive away from your villa.
Heading north, visit other beautiful villages such as Monflanquin (18km), Monpazier (40km) and picture-perfect Issigeac (45km), known for its Sunday morning market. Famous villages and iconic châteaux in the Dordogne can be reached in just over an hour such as Domme, Beynac-et-Cazenac and Limeuil or head north-west to experience the charm of Bergerac, around 65km by car.
