Once again, we had a wonderful stay at Mountain Manor. The house is very comfortable and meets all of our needs, the location is perfect and Pam is a great host who seems to care and wants her renters to enjoy her beautiful home and have a great experience. We can’t wait to go back!

Perfectly Comfortable
My husband and I along with our 2 sons, 1 girlfriend, and our pup spent 5 days at Mountain Manor. The views were spectacular- especially Mt, Shavano (which we couldn’t resist and ended up hiking on our last day). Anyway, we found the cabin to be very comfortable. It was perfect for our needs and the location was very convenient- Salida, which we LOVED was just a short 15 minute drive and there was even a Wal-Mart just 5 miles away. The waterfall just down the road (4 miles) was AMAZING! If we ever had any questions, Pam was very quick to respond via text. There is so much to do in this area that we didn’t get to do all we wanted. Would love to visit and book Mountain Manor again in the future.

Beautiful Location
Love the location close to Salina which is a neat little town. Many great eating places and local Breweries if you enjoy different type of beer. Enjoy sitting on the front porch with a great view of the mountain and watch the wild live feeding in the area. Did some hiking to several local water falls.

Spring in the Rockies
We had a wonderful 2 weeks at Mountain Manor. The house is comfortable and cozy and was a perfect setting to ride out a spring snowstorm during our stay. The views from the house are spectacular, the neighborhood is quiet, the location is convenient to everything in the area we enjoy and the Manor is so nice to return to at the end of a day out and about. The fireplace is our favorite feature, we had beautiful birds daily and the deer made many visits. Pam is easy to communicate with and really cares about her guests’ comfort and experience. We can’t wait to return to Mountain Manor!

Autumn at Mountain Manor
This was our second time in this perfect mountain home and the best trip ever. The house is immaculate, inviting and instantly feels like home. The location is convenient in all directions and the 360 degree views are breathtaking. And the stars! Who knew there were so many? We especially love the easy to use wood burner, the supply of firewood and enjoyed fires morning and evenings. Pam is so nice and easy to deal with and it’s evident she wants her guests to have a great experience in her home. We’re already thinking about our next trip to beautiful Colorado and Mountain Manor.

Know before you go- bat bugs confirmed
- The property is confirmed to have bat bugs. They look very, very much like bed bugs and are closely related. When we stayed we found what we thought was a bed bug. We left our trip halfway through so that we could return home and use the rest of our vacation time clean things, heat things, wash things, etc. A week after we left, we were told it was a bat bug. While the main host of bat bugs is bats, the parasitic insects will search for, and feed on, humans as well. Also, like bed bugs, bat bugs will “hitch rides” on clothing and luggage and infest other areas they are carried into. In the end, whether it’s a bat or bed bug, you don’t want to carry them home with you and you may need to do a LOT of work to ensure that you don’t bring any home with you. - The owner/s are good at business/ensuring the profitability of their property. Even after we communicated everything, caught and left the parasitic insect for them, cleaned up everything, etc., and were assured a “refund”, we found that what the refund amounted to was exactly the base cost of 2 nights’ stay (we left 2 nights early), to the penny. No part of the taxes, additional fees, or cleaning fee - that we had paid were refunded to us - There are thoughtful things that come with the cabin like lots of extra fans and some blackout curtains. You will want to utilize both of these if you are there while it is hot out as the cabin heats up quite a bit. We found the fans and blackout curtain helpful when timed well

We loved our stay at Mountain Manor. Clean home with attention to details. The front porch was our favorite spot to relax, take in the view and watch the hummingbirds. We appreciated the information about the area and enjoyed visiting the waterfall, catching trout and picnicking at Fooses Reservoir, and eating yummy ice cream in Salida. We would definitely stay here again.

Hot Hills in July
This home is on your way up Monarch Pass, so we thought it would be cooler than Salida. It was. . . but not by a whole lot. Thankfully our hosts had supplied multiple fans and both floors have ceiling fans. Those provide a refreshing breeze and entertainment for our grandson who is fascinated by ceiling fans. Our hosts also provided a highchair, baby gate and a Pack and Play, which saved a lot of room in the car. Their suggestions on eateries and very local water delights were right-on. Please note that the description says "kitchenette" which is accurate. It is cute and tidy and very well supplied but with room for only one person to work. Nice roomy frig., no dishwasher. Property is not a good selection for a long- haired dog as there are "beggars lice" (tiny burs) and long grass heads which are barbed and hard to remove. Plenty of cactus to negotiate on surrounding land. We made many good memories here. This home is a good fit for a small family who loves a cozy log cabin with a nice porch from which to watch humming birds, storms and rainbows while enjoying the fresh breeze.

Very disappointed
When we arrived, we found a dirty house. The vegetable and fruit drawers inside of the refrigerator had crumbs of food in them. Upstairs, the bathroom sink had soap spots around the rim and the faucet was dirty. There was a large clump of hair in the upstairs toilet. All of the windows were dirty on the sills and there were dead flies on many of the window sills. I pulled out a TV tray to use to put my computer on and there were large areas of dirt in two places with stuff that had to be scrubbed off first before I could even use it. On the main floor, we found a bug that was either a bat bug or a bed bug near the fireplace so we packed up all of our things, left the house, and called the owner. The owner tried to justify the dirt, saying this is to be expected because it’s a log cabin. But I have lived in a log cabin before, so I know it wouldn't be the cause of debris in the toilet and refrigerator, nor what I found on the TV tray. The owner told us her exterminator would not be until 5 days later to verify what the bug was. We were not comfortable staying at the property without knowing. She asked us to put the bug in a jar, which we did. We requested a refund. We continued to contact the owner. Finally, she told us Orkin said the bug appeared to be a bed bug. She said Orkin spent 4 1/2 hours there but did not find any other evidence of bed bugs. why did Orkin stay there so long if there was no problem ?vRBO needs to change their bug policy when bedbugs are involved

Absolutely PERFECT
We stayed at Mountain Manor for a week. We had never been to the Salida area before this trip and loved it so much we are sure we will be back! This beautiful cabin was absolutely perfect! The photos don't do it justice. Gorgeous views, peaceful calm having coffee on the gorgeous porches in the morning watching the birds, and so much more. We had everything we needed and more, and our hosts were super communicative and very sweet. Just 15 minutes from Salida, 15 minutes to the Monarch Gondola (which is now open!), and within an hour of tons of wonderful entertainment like the Royal Gorge Railroad, Cottonwood Hot Springs, Arkansas River fun, and great restaurants. The Mountain Spirit winery is just a mile down the road and it was really cool to visit! If you're looking for the perfect place to enjoy some peace and relaxation (or even some exciting fun on the river, shopping, etc.) over the summer, this is it! Can't wait to come back and check out the winter activities someday too. :) Thanks so much to Pam and Greg for an outstanding vacation!
