I learned from Sarah, front desk assistant, that the hotel is on historical land (Alamo) and that it's history of the building was that it was a bank, a speak easy, and a book binding company. A prior guest documented that her grandmother or perhaps great grandmother worked as a bookbinder it the basement portion of the building. You can view the original vault of the bank on the 5th floor. The original tile was preserved during the remodel and used to form the front desk. I can't say enough about the friendly and helpful staff of this hotel. 5 stars

This historic hotel offered comfortable rooms and a delicious warm breakfast only a block away from the Alamo and a couple blocks from the river walk. The rooms are on the small side, but have great amenities (like a coffee bar) and comfortable beds. The breakfast had a lot of great options from sweet to savory. The management even came around and checked that everyone was doing well and had what they needed. Great value and would stay again.

This is a great Experience! The building data from 1909 and the details in there is a travel on time, too close to Alamo; the workers there are great people like the valet attendant and the bar tender Joe! The Continental Breakfast is a Plus the best on San Antonio Texas! They need to improve the cleaning on the small decorative pillows, in my room was dirty and smell to bad!

Had to wait till 4:30 to check in excuse was that a room like mine was not done yet. I had a standard queen size room. So I had to sit around till 4:30 to get into my room. Than there was not one towel in there.
