Last fall my wife and I stayed in a spacious room with a large bathroom with a large window. The four door-windows looked out on the stunning El Escorial monastery. One of our most beautiful hotel rooms ever.
Two weeks ago I returned and got a small room with no view and a small, somewhat worn bathroom. It was January, rather cold, which I don’t mind, but the room was barely heated. Had to double up on blankets, which I never do. Also the walls between the rooms were thin, letting through all kinds of sounds. The closet had only four hangers and the door key lock constantly malfunctioned. The staff, if not particularly welcoming, was acceptably helpful.
