The room was freezing cold it was that cold the bedding felt damp. The heating was turned off and controlled by the owners. So you couldn't turn it on. The water was cold couldn't get hot water no matter how long you left the hot tap running. Breakfast wasn't upto much. Paid for 2 nights but couldn't face another night so went home. Total waste of money wouldn't recommend if you don't want to catch a cold.
James is a great host and the house is full of beautiful art and some beautiful items for sale.

Nice location and a friendly atmosphere. Basic but functional room and facilities. Reasonably priced overnight accommodation and reasonably priced breakfast on top of the accommodation fee
Lovely wee stay. Friendly and convenient stop off.
Lovely wee one-night stay at Rigg House. The guest house itself was lovely and our room was spacious and comfortable and we felt very accommodated and welcomed on our arrival. The location was a convenient stop off from the drive up from London. We needed somewhere close enough (within an hour) to drive the next morning to Ardrossan to take the ferry to Arran. The guest house is located on a lovely farm off the roadside. The village of Kirkconnel is within a 30-minute, which was a nice enough place to get a drink at the village pub. Recommended for a one-night stay.
Really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings! I was just stopping for 1 night on my way north, but wished I could stay longer. The building is historical and the interior vibe is cozy and quaint. Most importantly, the bed was comfortable, the bathwater was hot, and breakfast was excellent. There is a cold breakfast included in the room fee, but I recommend paying the extra £7 for a hot breakfast as you won’t be disappointed! Overall great experience and incredible value for the price.
I have been coming to Rigg house for many many years with different owners.
I have to say that this visit was by far a total disappointment.
On arrival there was nobody at home, a key box was outside, the room was unlocked so as we got our bags in the room was really cold.
My wife went to the en-suite where the toilet had obviously not been cleaned.
There was only enough coffee for 2 small cups of coffee.
The biggest disappointment was that the booking was made under the assumption that B+B meant bed and breakfast……but no breakfast at all was provided, even though the booking stated breakfast.!!!!! Not good at all.
We didn’t see anybody during our stay. If we did we would have complained about the price, but instead they just took the money from our bank.
WILL NOT BE RETURNING
We were very impressed with this beautiful Bed and Breakfast on a recent trip for essential purposes in the area. We stayed in the Brodie Suite and the room was very spacious and lovingly decorated with Scottish pictures and patterns. The view out over the hills was amazing. Our host James was very accommodating as well. I would definitely recommend this B&B to those travelling in the area.

I felt like i was in a novel of the 19th century with the peaceful country, animals and smoking chimney in the cold morning. Access to the living room with books. Very good breakfast and a host eager to please
I could not believe how beautiful this property is, and how accommodating the staff are. If you want an authentic Scottish experience, this is the place.
