NOT PET FRIENDLY. Have been coming every Thanksgiving weekend (exception 2020) for 10 years. We bring our 4.5 pound yorkie mix pup with us. She loves to sleep in the big hotel bed during the day while we go walking around and eat at our favorite places.
Upon check in - we were told that the new policy is that pets must be with their owners at all times.
The concierge told us that Savannah is dog friendly and most of the restaurants were dog friendly.
This was not the case at all,. Most of the restaurants allow service animals, but our pup is not a service animal.
Had we been made aware of this policy before we traveled to Savannah, we would have booked another hotel that would allow a 4.5 pound dog sleep in the room as she normally does.
Because of this updated policy we knew nothing of until check-in, we couldn't go to any of the places we normally go.
My husband and I love staying at the Hyatt on the River, but will not stay there moving forward. Our trip was ruined. So disappointing. Hotel should have a disclaimer by their Pet Friendly verbiage informing potential guests that pets must be with owner at all times with no exceptions. And the concierge needs to provide the realistic facts that there may be some pet friendly restaurants, but there are only 3 - 4 small tables in front of the restaurants so don't expect to get one of those tables on a busy weekend.
Everyone was very professional and courteous. We ran into a little problem and the managers worked diligently to resolved the issue. Thank you for being so kind and patient.
